Weeks turned into months into the semester and work was piling up. I found myself spending more and more time at the library and drinking more and more coffee trying to stay up and finsih homework, workout and keep a semi productive social life. College was starting to kick my butt and I notice it had an effect on Derek. We would go to the library and within 25 minutes Derek would be knocked out. Derek not only had classes but also had two practices a day for baseball, he was ready for the season to start so his credit hours would be less. I tried to get Derek to drink coffee but it didn't sit well with him, neither did energy drinks.

Midterms were coming which meant cramming a ton of information that you had learned in the short week before you got tested. Camps basically stopped, it was a dead zone minus the few kids who were only in college to party. Monday of the week before midterms came around and I was going to meet up with Derek to go over stuff for class. I noticed something really odd about him and he seemed much different than he had the week prior. He seemed alive and awake and after 25 minutes had gone by he wasn't passed out. No Derek seemed very focused, and a bit over energized.

"Are you okay?" I asked him

"Yeah, I'm great I feel like a new person and I have all this energy and I feel amazing" he said quickly

"Okay if you say so, you just seem not yourself that is all" I said

"I'm good, I'm not sleeping you should be happy, I'm focused and ready to go" he assured me

I let it go for that moment and figured I'd just worry about it after midterms got done, whatever worked for him. Besides having Derek awake the whole time while we were studying and doing our project was a major plus, we got it done quicker and I could go to bed earlier. Derek on the other hand, he was still acting really strange for a guy who was sleeping every chance he got last week. One night he walked me back to our dorm building but then five minutes later took off for the recreation center at 11pm! He was working out a ton, eating more, having more energy but he never seemed to crash, at least I never saw him crash.

Midterm week had finally almost come to a close, it was Thursday and me and Derek only had one more test to take before we could relax for the weekend and finally have some free time as the holiday break was the following week. We had elected to stay on campus instead of going home since we really wanted time to ourselves minus our friends who were al mostly going home.

After our exam Derek and I went to the cafe to grab some food and still Derek was acting off. He was still talking quicker than he usually had and his leg was bouncing up and down almost like he was waiting and was restless. He tapped his free fingers as he ate, yet continued to keep a full conversation with like he wasn't doing it at all. I thought I would try once more to ask him yet again if he was alright.

"You're acting odd, something on your mind?" I asked him

"No... Why do I seem odd?" he asked

"Derek stop and look at yourself, your leg is bouncing like you're nervous for being in trouble you keep tapping your fingers and you barely seem to know any of it is even going on. You're talking quickly and I' pretty sure I haven't seen you sleep all week." I told him

"Oh I'm sorry, I just get really stressed during times and I have this OCD thing or something." he said

"Oh... I see" I said, not fully believing him but to not cause a fight let it go because he could be telling truth.

"Hey come stay with me for the weekend in my room, my roommate is gone for awhile, we can have some fun" he said with that devilish smirk on his face

"That sounds like some fun" I said biting my lip and smiling.

I took the elevator up to my floor to grab some things to take to Derek's room. I sat down to my laptop for a minute to check my Facebook. I got to the main time line and there popped up a picture of some blond haired, boob hanging out girl with Bryan, the header thing above it read that Bryan had added a new life event; in a relationship with Morgan Menton. I sat there staring at it for a few moments and for some reason my heart sunk. I decided to stop looking at it and shut my laptop and continued to grab some clothes.

I went back down the hall and down the elevator I went to Derek's room and pushed Bryan to the back of my mind but wishing he was fully gone, but not gone at the same time. I got to Derek's room and opened the door, it wasn't very lit, he lit his candles and had some slow music playing out of his Ihome. I smiled as I walked in and there appeared Derek.

"Hello beautiful" he said with his heart melting smile, I noticed he was taking normally now.

He walked over to me and brought me close to him. I looked up at him and smiled, he kissed me hard and I felt a stronger connection to Derek than I ever had before. I got those silly little butterflies in my stomach as we kissed and let our hands explore one anothers bodies. In a strong passionate whirlwind of minutes we back and forth undressed each other. We fell onto his bed and got close to one another.

That was one of the best times I had with Derek, I felt like he truly loved me once again. I was his one and only again.

We cuddled with one another until we fell asleep. Derek held me closer and harder than he ever had before. I laced my fingers in his and my hand fit perfectly with his. I didn't want that moment to end, I didn't care about Bryan anymore or his new girlfriend. I had Derek and that is all that mattered to me now.
