Chapter 20: Kade

"What about her?" I asked.

Zoey stared at her hands and I could see she waa holding something. I squinted my eyes trying to see but she had it closed in a grip.

"Would you believe me?" Zoey asked.
"It depends," I said.
"She's cheating you and this pack," she said, without looking at me.
"What? She's an Alpha's daughter if you remember. Why would she go behind this pack?" I asked.
"Because I found this."

Zoey handed me the packet she had in her hands.

"What's this?" I asked.
"It's a herb," Zoey said.
"So? It must be good for your health," I shrugged.
"No. You don't understand! It's used to immitate a mate's smell!" She exclaimed.
"You think I would believe this shit?" I narrowed my eyes.
"You would know I am lying wouldn't you?" She asked, looking straight into my eyes.

If it was someone else my wolf would take that as a sign of disrespect and show that person where he/she stood. But Damien just purred as her green eyes stared back at us. They were full of mystery and I wanted to be the one to solve that mystery.

"Why would anyone let alone an Alpha's daughter think about doing this?" I asked, forcing myself to look away.

She clouded my judgment.

"That I don't know. But if you don't believe me then you should just go and check her room out. There's a whole lot of herbs in a packet," She said.
"Are you sure this is not some trick of you and Julia?" I asked, narrowing my eyes.
"Julia's spending time with Zach. Do you actually believe that she would be taking tbis lightly if she knew?" Zoey asked.
"If who knew?"

Zoey and I both turned towards the source. Only to find Paisley standing at the door.

"Didn't you know not to knock?" I glared.
"I didn't think you might be busy. But now I know why you keep ignoring me," Paisley glared at Zoey.
"Don't even think about making me feel guilty," Zoey grumbled.
"Oh yeah? Then what should I do? Reward you?" Paisley sneered.
"Perhaps you should. Mind telling us what's this is about?" I asked, holding up the herb.

Paisley's eyes widened and she stared at the packet with her mouth open. I could also hear Zoey's frightened heartbeat.

"What's that? I don't know what you are talking about," she said.
"Don't play the innocent card with me Paisley," I said.

I had stood up by now and was making my way towards her with slow deliberate steps. With each step I took Paisley took one back.

"If you just tell me what's going on then things might be different. Otherwise I have my own way of dealing with things," I said.
"You can't do anything to me! My daddy wouldn't take this kindly!" Paisley exclaimed.
"What are you? 7?" Zoey scoffed.
"I know it's you. I know you are doing something to turn my mate against me," Paisley whined.
"Take this like an adult Paisley. You are not a kid," I said.
"You can search my room if you want. If you think I am hiding something," she said.
"Oh now I will," I said.

I could feel Paisley's heartbeat accelarate as I walked past her.

"You wouldn't want to break relations with my father," Paisley said, making me stop in my tracts.
"And here I thought my dad was the worst. Sweetie you haven't met my dad yet. You might think differently then," Zoey said sarcastically.
"My dad is an Alpha!" Pailey growled.
"And my dad is the super devil himself. You wouldn't want to get on his bad side," Zoey said.
"I thought your dad hated you?" I said, more liked asked.
"Oh he does. And he would do anything to keep me away," Zoey said in a sing song voice.

What's going on over here? I thought her family and pack hated her. Has Julia planted some crazy ideas in her head?

"What do you mean?" I asked.
"You will just have to find out about it. And it won't be pretty," Zoey giggled.

Has this girl gone mad? What has taken over her?

"Your dad is of no rank like mine!" Paisley growled.
"Then you would meet my brothers. They are just as bad. They hate me enough to keep me aeay," Zoey shrugged, like it didn't matter.
"What did you eat for breakfast?" I inquired quizzically.
"Food," Zoey grinned.

Why is she in such a good mood?

"Kade don't you have to check her room?" Zoey asked, reminding me of the earlier reason of why I was standing by the door.

"You can't challenge an Alpha!" Paisley exclaimed, raising her voice. 
"Nope but maybe my dad can," Zoey giggled.

This girl just confuses me more everyday. One of the Slators called once a month to ask about her. There's something about Zoey that makes her attracted to people without her knowing. Her presence just demands attention. I wonder if she even knows it. If she knows the affect she has on people? My thoughts were interrupted when Paisley threw open her room door. I searched her room but foubd nothing. I was about to scold Zoey when I checked the last dresser. There on plain sight was a full packet.

Reaching in I took the packet out. I read the label and that was it. Damien wanted out. Ihad to control him before he did something which both of us could regret later. I felt him shrink back in the recess of my mind and looked around tofind Zoey had her hand on my arm which she immediately retracted back once she saw I had the control.

"Now you believe me?" Zoey asked.
"This is a trap! This bitch is lying!" Paisley yelled.
"Quiet!" I snarled which shut her up.
"In my officenow. And if it meant cutting of ties with your pack then so be it! The safety of my pack comes first!" I growled.
"Even before your mate?" Paisley's voice quivered.
"You are no mate of mine," I said coldly.
"I am going to skin you alive you bitch!" Paisley snapped.
"Enough!" I yelled.

My voice was so loud that it made the house shake. And the windows rattle. Everything became silent. It was so silent you could hear our hearts beat.

"Come to my office and for once act like an adult!" I snapped.

With that I strode out of the room and down the stairs halting when I saw my pack members staring at me.

"Get back to your work!" I snapped, before continuing to my office where I dialled Alpha Xander's number.

This was going to be a long talk!

PS: I have been having an idea roaming in my mind for months and it's not going anywhere. I want to try it out. But I am not having a good story title. Maybe you guys can think of one? It's romance genre.
