she spends hours
in the bathroom
applying mascara
highlighting her lips
shading her cheeks
covering her blemishes
hiding her imperfections
masking her flaws
yet what she didn't know
she was also hiding her perfections
covering her best features
the best things that made her unique
in layers of make-up
and was losing herself
in looking society's definition of
"beautiful"
