and i said i loved you
in the dying light of the night
you stared at me
the colour of darkness
in your eyes
my universe
spinning in front of my face
if you stood here long enough
maybe you'd see
the way my eyes
are the opposite to yours
like sunlight
shining through dappled leaves
and yours are
the darkness i feel in my soul
i stood there
trying to word my thoughts
my mind spinning
like the planet you're on
if i don't say something
the moment will slip
and you'll disappear forever
regret filling my veins
tears flooding the sockets of my eyes
i pulled up my sleeve
to reveal the marks i made
when you weren't there to save me
words weren't needed
the scars spoke them
and they hung in the air
you were staring at me
and i swear i saw
a hint of pure
and clear
sympathy.
