i know that you shouldn't shame someone for their weight
but whenever someone says that
my mind automatically goes to an overweight person
and i bet so does yours.
let me say that again.
don't shame someone for their weight.
what about the underweight people.
i know that you should never tease someone about their weight
or make rude comments on it
or say anything that may hurt them
because it's a sensitive subject.
but let me say that again.
don't tease someone about their weight.
and i know you should never call someone fat or overweight or tell them to lose weight
but you should never call someone "too-skinny" or "anorexic" or tell them to put on a few pounds.
yet i see this a lot.
gaining weight can be as much as a struggle as losing it.
sometimes even more.
yet we don't get the support
"go eat some more calories"
"go to the hospital and get it fixed"
you wouldn't say it to an overweight person
so why say it to us?
some of us are naturally thin
and no matter how much we eat
we can't seem to put on weight
so don't assume
we stick out finger down our throat
so we can look society's definition of perfect
because the harsh reality is
the people who actually do do that
don't get the support or help they deserve.
so the next time you hear "don't shame someone for their body weight"
know they're talking about the underweight people too
because some of us can't help it.
