she laid out her palm

shaded a deep purple

like her beautiful dress

she had worn that night

she slid up her sleeve

to reveal

deathly white skin

almost as white

as his face

when he saw her

on that night

nothing to say

or do

just stare

she pulled her sleeve up

to her elbow

exposing

a red ring

patterned

with tiny scars

almost as red as

the blood that trickled

down his face

after she punched him

after he got what he deserved

she disappeared

into a sea of darkness

the unmistakably forsaken night.
