Tobias POV
I lay on the couch watching a Doctor Who marathon. I have no shirt on and sweatpants. I take my phone from the coffee table and see that it's 4:00 and Tris hasn't came yet. I go to my Contacts and dial her number. I put my phone on my ear and wait.
3 rings,
4 rings,
"So, yeah I can't answer right now so... Call me later or you know, leave a message after the beep." says Tris' voice. I poke the red button and put my phone in the table.
5:00
The door bursts open and I quickly look over my shoulder, hoping it's Tris. It's not, it's Marcus. He is probably going to beat me or something.
"Should I go upstairs, sir?" I ask tensely.
"No," Marcus replies. "You are not going to be punished today." I get confused. Everyday for the past years, he has beaten me. He is probably drunk or something, maybe exhausted. When is Tris going to be here? It's been more than an hour, I know it doesn't seem much but, I'm still worried.
8:00
I've called her three times and still, no answer. I decide on calling her parents but I don't have their number. I leave my house and get on my Cadillac.
Prior House
I knock twice in the door. The door opens quickly after I knock on it, as if they were waiting for someone. In the door stands Caleb with a worried expression but it calms down once he sees me. "Oh, hey Four." he says. I nod.
Before I can ask him anything he says, "Thank god you brought Beatrice, we've been worried sick," and sighs with relief.
"I actually was here to ask if you've seen her." I say quietly. His shocked expression comes back and he gestures for me to come in, so I do.

I take a sip of my tea. "Yeah, that's weird. Does she do this often?" I ask.
"No! No way, she is always so obedient, besides she doesn't really have friends. Only you. She has been blabbing around all week about how you were nice to her." Mrs. Prior says. I chuckle, knowing that if she were here she would tell her to shut up.
I feel the couch vibrate, I look around and see my phone shaking. I see the Caller ID and it says Tris. I sigh and answer it. "Where the hell have you been? Your parents and I have been worried sick!" I yell through the phone.
"I'm sorry Tobias, I've been with a friend." I sigh in relief knowing that she wasn't in danger.
"Oh cool, thank god. Who was it, Christina? Marlene? Did you become friends with Shauna?" I ask mimicking a girl's voice.
"Actually," she says softly. "It wasn't a girl. It was Lucas, you know, from most of our classes. Red hair- blue eyes?" A guy? She bailed on me for a guy? I don't even know any Lucas.
"Did you just make that up?" I say and chuckle.
"No! Why is it so hard for people to process that I actually have friends! And of course, you wouldn't know him because no one does! He is just like a mistreated shadow." she says a little bit too angrily. She takes a deep breath and chuckles. Why is she so angry?
"Okay then, see you in your house. We'll talk later." I still have to ask her why she bailed on me with that guy. She hangs up and I quickly get a text from Marcus saying,
'Tobias,
you have no options: either not look at Tris in the eye again or else. You have ten minutes to say goodbye.'
