I wake up the next morning with a smile on my face. The tiny lights were still clinging to me and for the first time I didn't jump at all when Goldar's voice came into my head.
'Good morning.' I sighed at the sweet sound of his voice and opened my eyes up more so that I could see that the sky was still dark outside.
'What time is it?' I rub my eyes and yawn.
'Nearly morning,...so how'd you feel about me showing you something special?'
'You're in my head. How could you?' I replied back sarcastically and laughed a little.
'Go outside and you'll find out...' I thought about it for a few moments before finally getting out of bed and deciding to use the window to go outside. 'Don't be so stupid, Ambrissa. You'll hurt yourself.'
'No I won't.' Before he could protest, I jumped out of my window and shifted into my soloflyte form, drifting down to the ground and shifting back. 'I told you that I wouldn't hurt myself at all!'
A frustrated groan sounded in my brain and it made me laugh. 'Whatever, now go up to that hill.' He guided my eyes to my right and I responded by walking over to the hill and beginning to climb it.
'Now what?' I said as I reached the top of the hill, noticing the sun beginning to just come over the horizon.
'That's what I want to show you.'
'What? The sun?' My eyes darted around in the dark to figure out what Goldar was talking about.
'Yes, the sun. Sunrises here are the most beautiful that I ever saw.'
'When's the last time that you even saw a sunrise or sunset?' His answer was probably going to be a pretty big number.
'Over 10,000 years.' I widened my eyes in shock.
'I still can't believe how long you've been stuck in the form of a sword.'
'You're telling me. Sit down, you'll want to see this sunrise. I can already tell that it's going to be amazing.' He was right, I watched as it came up over the horizon, and my eyes started drooping. 'I shouldn't have woken you up so early,...especially during a rough week.'
'No, no, you're fine.' A yawn escapes me and I lay down in the sand, curling up and letting my eyes completely close. 'This really brightened everything up...'
I fell asleep and woke up still on the ground, except there was a person sitting down next to me and I looked up at them to see Jace. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm supposed to watch out for you." He glanced at me before quickly averting his gaze back to his hands.
"Why?" I mentally face-palmed at such an obvious question, but before I could tell him to just forget it, he had already answered.
"You're the princess and only heir to the throne, you're young, pretty damn reckless. All you ever do is talk to another voice in your head, and the King assigned me to be your first-hand for everything save for what the servants do." He never looked at me once while speaking.
"Doesn't that just make you my escort?" I sat up and brushed the sand off of myself.
"Escort is more for someone, well, special, around here." Jace finally looked at me with a half-smile. "Now how about we go back inside, I think that you have school to go to today."
"Yeah, but I kinda just feel like skipping it to-"
'No! You are not skipping school! We need to keep watch over Daniel!' I could clearly hear the anger and irritation in Goldar's voice, and my eyes widened in shock.
