Nick Fury's Clone

Chapter 3

Clint and Natasha climbed into a Jeep provided by SHIELD. They had changed into their costumes and were on their way to find Fury's attacker. Nick had returned to the Helicarrier, where he would receive medical treatment. While Clint drove, Natasha tried to figure out where their mystery attacker was.

"So what do you think made her not finish off Fury?" Clint asked.

"I don't know," Natasha replied. "It could be a number of things. Orders, disobeying orders, personal motives. You never know."

Suddenly, an alarm went off on the dashboard. Natasha hit a small button that pulled up a map.

"What that about?" Clint asked.

"A HYDRA base is being attacked," Natasha said. "It's an hour or so away."

"Good thing we can get there sooner." Clint pressed a button on the dashboard that transformed the Jeep into a small jet.

Natasha pulled up the picture of the girl who had attacked Fury.

"She reminds me of someone," she said, "but I'm still trying to figure out who."

In twenty minutes, the two arrived at the HYDRA base. They got out of the car and readied their weapons. Natasha opened the door and the agents walked inside. They found HYDRA agents, laying on the floor. Natasha knelt down and felt one of their pulses.

"This attacker is good," she commented. "Took out their first line of defense pretty easily, it seems."

"Is that good or bad for us?" Clint asked.

"Depends on how much you want to see tomorrow."

The two continued through the halls, seeing more agents laying on the ground. They soon reached a lab. The computers were still up and running. Natasha put away her weapon and sat in the seat in front of the computers. Clint stood over her. Natasha typed in a series of codes and the computer opened a file.

"Let's see what HYDRA was recently working on," she said.

She tapped on a file that had a note saying "opened recently."

Natasha opened the file.

"Well, well," she said. "Looks like HYDRA is in the cloning business."

"Cloning what, though?"

"Take a look."

Natasha pulled up plans for one of HYDRA's cloning projects. It was called 'Project Patch.' Natasha showed Clint the clone's DNA and the original specimen's DNA.

"They look almost identical," Clint commented.

"But the clone's are slightly different," Natasha explained, "because the original DNA is that of a man. The new DNA is female."

"Whose DNA did HYDRA use?"

Natasha typed in a couple of things, then showed Clint the screen. He stared.

"Fury," he said simply.

Suddenly, the click of a gun caught Clint's ear. He pulled Natasha out of her seat and onto the floor, using the desk for cover. Bullets started firing at the two. Clint loaded an arrow onto the bow and shot it. They heard something fall to the floor. Natasha looked over the desk and saw Fury's attacker pulling out a sword. Natasha jumped over the desk and shot bullets at her. The girl was able to deflect them off her sword. She jumped at Natasha and swung her sword at the agent's head. Natasha ducked and turned so she had the girl's back to Clint.. Clint stood up and placed an arrow on the string of his bow. He pulled it back. When he let go, the arrow flew and hit the girl in the back. It sent a shock of electricity through her body. After a second, she fell to the ground. Clint put his bow away and walked towards the girl.
