Clint landed the flying Jeep in front of the Barton's home. Before the trio had even set foot out of the vehicle, Cooper and Lila came running from the house. Laura, who was carrying Nathaniel, came out behind them.
"Aunt Jo!" the children cried.
Josephina bent down with open arms and accepted the hugs from the two. Laura greeted the three with a smile. Josephina stood up and took Nathaniel into her arms. She smiled and glanced up. She saw Director Fury standing on the porch in the shade.
"Why don't you come in?" Laura said. "Dinner's almost ready."
The group followed Laura towards the house. Josephina paused at the door to smile at Fury, then walked into the house. Natasha stayed outside with Fury while the others went in.
"When you first met her," Fury said, "did you know this would happen?"
Natasha smiled.
"'You never know,'" she said. "'You hope for the best and make do with what you get.'"
Fury smiled, looked at the ground, then back at Natasha.
"Using my own words," he said.
"She needs you, Fury. You got to be there for her."
"After what happened earlier, I have no doubt that I will."
The two walked inside and helped prepare for dinner.
