Soulmate

A missing case

“Les, What’s going on?” Rose and Helen caught up with the scurrying Leslie.

“No idea…” Les said frowning.

Everyone’s face was crowded with confusion, they were talking to each other about how they woke up to hear the shrill voice demanding them all at once to report at the great hall. Each of them have their own theory about it. Some people said there was invader, some spoke about something being stolen, and some said it was just a drill. The head count said it wasn’t just a drill.

Rose spotted Jesse walking towards her, he sighed as soon as their eyes met.  His ruffled bed hair gave  him a cute look.  Rose liked the non polished Jesse very much in fact she made a mental not to ruffle his hair if he was ever going to show up again with that perfectly combed hair, not after she knew how good he looked with that messy hair. Sam and Henry tagged along with him.

“What’s going on?” Helen asked as soon as she saw the boys.

Jesse pointed her to look at the ceiling. Our eyes travelled towards the dome following his gaze.

“Find her…It’s time for the other hal…” the last letter was barely legible but anyway they figured it out.

“What’s all that?” none of them understood what Mr.Dom meant  by that.

“Mr.Dom is taken away by the nightlings…”

“What do you mean by taken???”

“He is kidnapped…”Ronny answered that.

“What?” The shrieks of the girls gathered enough attention.  Their eyes wandered over to the dome and there were gasps that filled the air and suddenly there was an excited chatter in the crowd discussing the clue left by Mr.Dom.

“Leads report to Harry’s room…” The voice bellowed.

“Can I come with you…” Rose said.

 “I need to talk…” She thought in her mind.

Jesse held her hands and they left in the direction of Harry’s room. As soon as they were away from the crowd.

“I don’t know if it has to do anything with the nightlings…Last night when we were talking, I think I saw something…”

She felt silly by talking it out loud, but it was Jesse who said that everything that we see and feel is reality.

“It was a shadow…I know it seems silly but the shadow wasn’t cast on the wall or any object, It stood….”Rose felt at loss of words, she knew what she saw but describing it too someother person was difficult.

“Jesse… come on. We need to raise th barrier.” Sam and henry yelled.

“Will be back in a few… Stay here.” Jesse yelled running out into the bacyard.

Jesse,sam, Henry and some other guy whom she didn’t know, stood in all four directions of the academy. They  were saying incantations, crossing their arms over the hearts,energy radiated around them and finally they let go their stance and the energy orb from each of them mingled to form a green light in the sky. It grew larger and larger, spreading over the Saviors building, it travelled along the walls and then to the ground, with a bright splash it disappeared.

Rose was observing all the four of them when some moment in the bushes caught her eyes, she walked closer to get a close look. Her trail ended a few foot away form the bushes.  She saw the black robe flying far in the trees. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw the black robe. Carefully, she advanced sticking to the wall. The dry leaves made a crunching sound under her feet, she gasped. The black cloak swirled in her direction.

She stumbled backwards and fell on the floor. The black cloak glided towards her, she was paralyzed by fear.  The sheild was a few seconds away to complete and the black cloak advanced towards her.

Jesse was watching as the shield got activated. When he heard Sam shouting. He gazed in the direction Sam was pointing, for a second he didn’t understand what was going on.

Rose was laying there froze in the ground and a black cloak was looming over her. A second was all it took to him to realize what was happening, the good thing was Rose was inside the shield but Jesse doubted if the shield would get activated in time to protect her. He cast a spell around her and then shot one at the black cloak. It flew backwards and hit the tree.

“Rose, you okay?” He helped her up and dusted her hands.

Sam and Henry were beside him, looking at her with worried faces. Mr. Rat glared at Rose.

“What do you think you are doing walking all alone into the forest,huh?”

Jesse glared at him and lead Rose back towards the academy. A few people were already gathered watching the show.

“Did I just see a souldrinker?” Rose stammered.

Students retired to their rooms, the classes for the day were cancelled. Jesse walked Rose to her room. He stood hesistantly at her door,

“Bro…Mr.Dom is not here, he won’t be stopping us anymore from entering any rooms…”Sam and Henry smirked.

“Come in…”Helen called as she walked Rose into the room.

Rose chugged down a whole bottle of water. She couldn’t still get over the idea of meeting a souldrinker.

“What happened over there?” Leslie asked.

Rose told them everything and by the end of the story the twins joined them too.

“Do you think he is the one that kidnapped Mr.Dome?” Helen asked.

“If so, we should follow him.” Ronny said standing up excited about the adventure ahead.

“Ow! Wait a second. First of all, he is not a souldrinker and second of all we don’ know if he is responsible for the kidnap.” Leslie reasoned.

“What?He is not a souldrinker?” Everyone chorused.

“If he is a souldrinker he wouldn’t let Rose live and he wouldn’t show up in broad daylight. You remember how Crackhead said that they hate daylight.” Les said.

Everyone looked at Jesse expectantly and Jesse nodded asserting that she was right.

“Than who was he or what was it?” Rose asked.

Jesse had no answer for this or was possibly keeping it a secret just like many others he had.
