“Did…Did you know her?” Jesse asked averting his gaze from Elisa.
“No…It was the first time that I saw her.”
“Do you know who she is?” Rose certainly deduced that she was a higher authority over here but she seriously doubted her theory since Jesse was acting all weird. She nodded ‘no’
“She is Elisa, the last direct descendant of the noble family ‘Myra’, the director of Base...” Rose gasped she certainly heard about the family of ‘Myra’ from her history of Saviors classes: They were the first family of magical beings, they were so powerful and led the earhtlings during the Alien wars. Unfortunately, most of the family members died sacrificing their life for the earthlings ending the line of the noble family. The last true heir to Myra was Elisa who was the present director of Base and it was believed that she is the most powerful witch in the world.
“Is that her?” Rose said with wide eyes.
She just saw the true heir and she spoke to her like a commoner, her respect for this lady was doubled. She was admiring her when arms snaked around her neck.
“Rose…”
“Gramps…” She shreiked hugging her. She was excited and at the same time relieved to see them safe.
The twins were towing after their mother, Grandpa was watching as the ladies created a melodrama. Rose sat with her family and friends, they had a long conversation while eating. After a long debate and Jesse’s insistence it was decided that Rose’s grandparents would come and stay in his house until they rent another safe house.
Aunt Lucy left on some business leaving the cousins with Rose. Rose was happy to have her grandparents back. That night the excitement of going back to academy was obvious in everyone. Jesse made all the preparations for the comfortable stay of Rose’s grandparents.
As promised Ronny and Les were waiting by their room, Rose slumped on to the bed running her hands on the soft matress, she realized just how much she missed the academy.
“Tell me how did you manage to be still alive after beind drained to death by a souldrinker?” Les asked inquisitively.
“It was a miracle!” Helen said jumping on to my bed. Rose just laid down listening to them after few seconds she dozed off.
Classes started promptly, Everything seemed normal except when people stared at the dome for help with directions, it would stare at them with vacant expression and that foreboding feeling crept in them.Rose missed him too, she was always bad at directions and the first few weeks withour Mr.Dom she would have lost in the endless similar corridors. She fancied his gift, it was unique when Jesse told that his gift was the ability to answer any query asked. She thought it was simple but as days passed she understood how cool it would be to have such a gift; to have answers to everything in the world.
She even tried testing his gift, she would run into the hall and ask him where her missing shoe was, the answer would appear promptly on the glass dome. After a rain of such stupid questions one day she saw the dome prompt “Stop playing” along with the answer.Rose couldn’t help but laugh. Ever since then she wished to see the old guy. Jesse said that Mr. Dome doesn’t like seeing people and he keeps himself locked up in the south tower.
Rose didn’t know why but she kept thinking about Mr. Dome the whole day. She was worried about his safety and she even had the horrible thought of him probably being dead but as Jesse pointed that they took him because he had a really useful gift and they wouldn’t harm him until he had his gift.
She had no apetite, she strolled in the garden and settled down with her Life skills book. She was engrossed in the book when she heard someone ‘Psst.’ She ignored it for the first time but after a few seconds she heard it again.
She raised her eyes to see a ghost staring down at her. She stumbled back.
“Shhh…Calm down.” The ghost replied. It was in mid forties, unshaved, filthy and starving.
“Get this message to Harry, They are after the girl…” He kept checking over his shoulders.
“SCUD…” He panicked and with one last fleeting glance at her, he vanished.
“Rose didn’t understand a thing but the message was important and need to be delivered and the urgency in his tone told that it was priority task. She ran to Harry’s room.
She stood tentatively at the door. She had never been to his room after the first day and she didn’t know whether she should knock or just go inside.
She stood by the mirror. Harry was nowhere to be seen, What should she do? May be tap the glass that would be indecent ,may be just call out that would be crazy. She stood there weighing her options finally decided to call out.
“Mr. Harry?” Rose made a full round around the mirror calling out his name.
“I guess he is out camping or may be I should ask Jesse to give him the message…” Rose was about to leave the door when she heard him call her.
“I’m sorry got caught up in the work. You called me?” Rose smiled, she could imagine him smiling while he said that. Rose turned around and she was totally caught off guard to see him wearing casuals, she thought that he would always be in suit, she didn’t know why but she imagined it like that way.
Rose told him about the whole thing. She expected him to say something but he just nodded to everything and smiled as if that was the cue for her to leave.
“Where did you go during lunch?” Jesse was standing by the wall.
“I was in Harry’s room.” Rose replied casually. She didn’t know why but all of a sudden fatigue washed her last ounce of energy. She let him in and dumped her book bag. Helen was already in tidying up the things.
All her friends walked in one after the other. They must have been really worried about her absence the whole time. She skipped lunch and the classes.
Rose felt sorry for not telling them beforehand and let them worry. She told them why she hadn’t been for lunch and how she met the ghost and then went find to Harry.
“But that wouldn’t be possible unless he is…” Henry said rubbing his chin.
When Rose described how the ghost was, he knew it wasn’t a ghost but someone having an out of body experience and he also knew that they couldn’t just show up randomly they need to have a connection to the person or blood related.
Jesse kicked his kneel and screamed in his thoughts to shut the hell up. This exchange didn’t pass unnoticed by Rose but she knew that it was only matter of time before Jesse came telling her what it was.
“Who is this guy? Jesse, did you see his picture in Rose’s memory?” Les asked.
“He is Mr.Dom.” Jesse replied non chalantly.
“Does that mean he is dead?” they panicked.
“He is not dead, he was just having a out of body experience to convey the message.”
Jesse knew they had lot of questions and answering them would only result in more and than the truth would just come out at some pont. He excused himself from the group saying that he needed to talk to Harry.
