Also, warning for brief mention of a form of OCD that looks a bit like an eating disorder (Specifically Avoidant-Restrictive Food Intake Disorder)
Throughout Draco's time inpatient, he is learning a lot of therapy terminology. I understand not everyone will know absoultely everything, but please know that the utmost care was put into making this as accurate as possible (my local library must hate me for how often I keep going for books on these topics). Some speedruning on concepts that might be mentioned but not quite explained:
CBT- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, one of the most common and research-supported modes of therapy that exsits
ACT- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, often used for OCD, PTSD, Depression, anxiety, chronic pain management and substance use. combines mindfulness and behavior therapy
Exposure Therapy- a form of therapy used most commonly for phobias and for OCD
SUDS- Subjective Units of Distress scale, often one of the first things that an OCD client will do, which builds a framework for how exposure therapy can go
Doodle Diaries: an art therapy technique that involves keeping a booklet where one uses drawings and words in order to help process stressors or express oneself if words are difficult. There are many therapy exercises that one can do with the doodles in their doodle diary
The STOP exercise: Stop, Take a step back, Observe current environment, Proceed mindfully. A commonly used tool in DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy)
Psychoeducation: essentially just learning about all these things
Also, there is a brief note regarding Draco's early processing with the nurse in the end notes, referring to the fact that hospitals will check new inpatients for drugs hiding in odd places.
Well, please let me know what you all think, and, as always...Enjoy!!!!!!!!!
If Draco was feeling particularly anxious about Harry being ushered out the door, he couldn't process it beyond a mild speeding of the heart and tingling up his arms, because he was whisked in the other direction just as quickly, nudged toward a small room with a large bed similar to what he might see in a healing clinic. A woman whom he hadn't previously noticed moved around the room. She picked up his clothes bag and kept it with her as she unrolled a thin paper over the bed and secured it somewhere Draco couldn't see. Then, she opened a cabinet and retrieved a blue, paper-looking stack with strings.
"Just put this on, and a nurse will be in shortly."
Draco found himself alone in this room just as quickly as he'd been separated from Harry.
It took him a moment to start moving again. He unfolded the blue stack to be met with what looked like a poor imitation of a gown.
I've to wear this?!

Fanfiction"Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy." Draco stopped, closing his eyes for the briefest of moments. He thought of the scars on his left arm. He thought of the scars across his torso...
