"This is precisely what I knew would happen if you he finds out everyone is alive." declared Maeve with a determined look on her face. She marched ahead of the group, leading the way inside the abandoned building. She made her way towards the top room. She saw Mikael standing over Caroline. Although humanity-free, Caroline looked visibly distraught and scared.

"I don't understand how someone can love that bastard. He took away everything!" said Mikael aggressively. Caroline looked at him with fear in her eyes.

"He did nothing." it was Caroline who spoke this time. Everyone paused to listen to what she had to say. "Yes, he has done terrible things, horrible things, wrecked havoc, destroyed lives, but he also protects. He protects the ones he loves, he protects the ones he cares about, he protects the ones who are important to him. He does everything to make sure they are safe."

Klaus felt frozen in place outside the room listening to Caroline' words. Caroline, in her own way, was defending him. She rose up to her feet again and faced Mikael, her voice growing stronger with each word, " You think you know him, but you don't. You don't know him at all. These past few months I have seen him for who he is. The Klaus I know is not the monster you think he is. He is so much more than that. He is kind, he is compassionate, he is loving, and he is loyal. You can say all that you want about him, but I know the truth. He is everything you can never be Mikael. And you hate that he has got the loyalty, the love, and the devotion that you can never have...never could."

Mikael grunted. "Enough." he charged at Caroline but failed to grab her. He found himself, levitating in the air. He was thrown across the room and slammed against the wall.

"Haven't we danced already?" she asked with a hint of irony in her voice. Mikael rose up to his feet and faced her.

"I couldn't hurt you because of Iona. Even now my vow to her is the only reason I'm holding back." said Mikael with a pained look on his face. His eyes followed across the room to Klaus. "You find me and fight like a man instead of having children fight your battles for you."

Saying his piece, Mikael sped from the room, leaving Maeve, Klaus, Kol and Caroline alone.

Klaus strode across the room and stood facing Caroline, "Are you hurt, love?" he asked, his voice filled with concern. She smiled, "Please, I am fine." he flashed her a tight smile.

"Well, can we go home? I had enough of this," said Caroline. Klaus felt defeated as she walked past him and left the room.

Maeve gave a sympathetic look to Klaus. "Well, this is exactly what I meant when I said that this is the reason why I never told you about your parents being alive."

Klaus sternly gazed at Maeve, "Not the time, Maeve. We need to go back in the compound and figure out a plan to get rid of both our parents."

Maeve scoffed, "Look, we have much bigger things to worry about right now."  Klaus looked at her in disbelief.

"Elijah...he is missing."
