Stay With Me

“Where are we going?” I demanded once Anderson and I were seated in his car.

“To my house, I’m not a caveman.” He chuckled, pulling onto the highway.

“Will you explain to me what is going on?”

“Of course, I wasn’t going to pull you away from them without a reason.” His eyes were on the road, and when he spoke of his former family his fingers tightened on the wheel.

“I know you’re wondering why I chose to contact you through your dream.”

“Uh, yeah,” I cocked an eyebrow. I wouldn’t try to get into his mind until he was sleeping, when his guard would be down. Then I would know if he was lying or not, and get out if need be.

We were sitting in a surprisingly well-furnished, cozy apartment. It was mostly done up in black and white, with black out drapes and a huge plasma TV.

“Aaron saved me four years ago. It was a few years after he found Andy. I was involved in a dangerous gang because my older brother was in it. But, I wanted out. The only way to get out is death. I figured if I ran they wouldn’t find me.” Anderson sat next to me, staring at the blank TV screen as he saw a whole different life. “They found me, and as punishment for running away, they broke my arms and beat me half to death.”

I gasped, my hand flying to my mouth. He looked down at me, as if just realizing I was there.

“They left me in an alley, and Aaron and Emma found me. Of course, Emma could have healed me there and sent me on my way. But Aaron was planning something more. So he forced that stupid blue crap down my throat just like your precious Kyle did to you.”

“I didn’t want to die.” I took a deep breath, biting my lower lip to keep from breaking down.

“None of us do. But when it’s your time, it’s your time, and the Sommers’ family shouldn’t be meddling.”

“What does it have to do with me?”

“They can’t just go taking any random of the street. When that crazy-ass bitch Garnet tried to kill you, it was the perfect opportunity.”

“What does he want with me?” I was getting more and more terrified of what would have become of me if the strange dream-invader hadn’t got to me.

“Simple. He wants to be rid of humans. He hates them, they all do.”

“Lies!” Kyle yelled, storming into the room with Kyle behind him. “Last time I checked that’s what you wanted.”

“Is that true?” I gasped, looking between the two opposing sides.

“Of course not,” he said through his teeth. I took that as my moment to get into his head.

His whole plan unfolded before me, and I knew Kyle could see it, too.

He was going to use me, he thought he could brainwash me into hating my family, thus helping him turn some of the people he chose into Immortals. He wanted to destroy the entire human race.

”No!” I gasped, leaping away from him. Kyle caught me, pushing me back behind him. I rolled my eyes, I was stronger than Anderson and he knew it.

I stepped forward, making sure to keep eye contact. “Don’t move.”

“Let me go!” He growled, frozen with his hands at his sides.

“Nope,” I pushed into his brain, feeling for the hatred he had for their family. He was trying to block me, and even though he was older than I was, I was still stronger.
