“Graduation is so weird.” I frowned, as Cody, Andy and I posed for pictures in our caps and gowns.
“It feels weird to be leaving here,” Kyle agreed, leaning down to kiss me. The camera flashed and I looked up to see Emma grinning like a fool.
“That’s going on the mantel.” She gushed, wiping a tear from her eye.
“Come get a picture with the boys, Em.” I took the camera from her. She stood with Kyle on one side and Andy on the other. The camera flashed, snapping the most beautiful picture ever.
“I want a picture with my girls.” Aaron demanded, taking the camera from me and handing it to Andy. He stood me in between him and Emma, and I smiled brightly for the picture.
As much as I missed my biological family, I knew they’d never fully understand.
“How about one of all of you,” one of my teachers suggested, taking the camera and ushering the boys into the picture.
Aaron, Kyle, and Andy stood in the back with Emma and me in front. The camera flashed again, and I knew it was going to be a good one.
The boys and I were all going to the same school, only an hour away. We’d deliberated for months on how far away we should go from our family. In the end it was decided that Emma and Aaron would get a place about a half hour away from our school and we could go home whenever we wanted.
“Are you finished packing?” Emma fretted; moving in between our rooms making sure we all had everything. Aaron had made sure we would be staying in a dorm together, just to make it easier on us, although we’d have two other roommates.
“Just finished,” I smiled, pushing my last box onto the floor. Everything I wasn’t taking with me would go into my room at the new house, to be unpacked at a later date.
“Good, the boys, too. Oh, this is so exciting.” She clapped her hands together in joy.
“That’s the last box,” the moving guy informed us from the door of our apartment.
“Thank you,” I smiled, passing him two toonies, and a five.
“You’re welcome,” his eyes traveled down my body and back up. “So, you single?”
“Actually, no,” Kyle wrapped his arms around my waist from behind. I leaned back into him out of habit.
“Worth a shot,” He tipped his hat and disappeared down the hallway.
“That was mean,” I giggled, smacking his arm gently.
“He deserved it.”
“I guess,” I chuckled, walking past him into my room. Thanks to Emma’s help, and our super-speed, I already had most of my stuff unpacked.
“This is going to be the best year ever!” I declared from on top of my bed. Kyle grabbed me from around my knees, pulling them out from under me. He caught my shoulders before they hit the bed, swinging me in circles.
“Come on,” I squealed, “put me down!”
“As you wish,” He sighed dejectedly, dropping me. Being Immortal, I could easily up right myself before I crashed into the hard wood floor, and he knew it.
“Asshat,” I giggled, kissing him.
“Guys, stop macking, honestly,” Andy huffed jokingly, jumping onto my bed.
Kyle and I shared a look, yelling, “DOG PILE!”
“Come on guys, get off.” He grumbled.
“I love you guys!” I sighed, getting up from the weird threesome position we were in. I was feeling highly emotional that day, and I could feel tears welling.
“Whoa, why are you crying?” The boys looked terrified.
“I’m just lucky to have you guys!” I sobbed, hugging them both tightly.
“Well, we love you, too.” Kyle chuckled.
“Stop laughing at me!” I sniffled, “it’s not funny.”
“Oh, sweetie, but it is.” Andy cooed, patting the top of my head.
I really was the luckiest girl in the world. I may have lost my parents, but they were still out there. And I’d gained so much more. A whole family and I had no idea what I would do without them.
