By 5:45 am, Charles called "Bell's Systems", and told his wife's 'Bosses' that she was, quote, "Sick"; he told his Mom's work that she was also sick.

I

Charles Whitman went to a Texas Bank. Once he got $US250 in checks, he got a "hand truck" thanks to the Austin Rental Company, in Texas.

II

At the local hardware store, he got a  Universal M1 carbine; two more ammunition magazines; and eight more ammunition boxes.

"I'm going hog hunting", Charles told the cashier. But he wasn't "hog hunting"; he was "people hunting".

III

At "Chuck's Gun Shop", Whitman got 4 more carbine magazines; gun cleaning solvent, (in a can); and six more ammunition boxes.

And, at Sears Holdings Corporation, (formerly Sears department store in 1966), he got a   12 gauge semi-automatic shotgun.

IV

Whitman, in his garage, sawed off the shotgun.

He also bought  a Remington 700 6mm bolt-action hunting rifle; a .30 caliber carbine gun; a .35 caliber pump rifle; a Galesi-Brescia .25-caliber pistol; a 9mm Luger pistol; a Smith & Wesson M19 .357 Magnum revolver; and 700+ rounds of ammo. He also got Dexedrine; Exedrine; coffee; toilet paper; rope; binoculars; a machete; ear plugs; bottles of water; lighter fluid; vitamins; some food; three knives; a razor; a transistor radio; and a bottle of deodorant.

V

Armed in khaki coveralls, Charles Whitman wore jeans and a shirt over them. Then, once he reached the Texas Bell Tower, it was 11:00 AM.
