And they all fall

I

Neal Spelce, a Texas reporter, from  KTBC news, spoke:

"This is a warning to the citizens of Austin. Stay away from the university area! There is a sniper at the University Tower firing at will; it's like a battle scene. He fires a shot; and another shot; and another shot; it's a battle between the sniper and the police".

II

A couple of US Peace Corpsmen *Grey Thorpe; *Sam Game; and *Avery Klein, (not their rules names), (unknown ages); Charles Whitman shot at them while they had had lunch; *Klein had his wrist severed; *Game was shot in his left bicep; *Klein was shot a second time in one of his legs; *Tim Asher, 64, (not his real name), a shop owner, was shot in his leg-and he passed away.

III

And the killings continued.

IV

After more people were shot and murdered, and injured all over the place, Texas Public Safety Troopers and US Deputies from the Travis County Sheriff's Department finally arrived. They headed into the Tower.

And, at 1:24 PM,  Houston McCoy; Ramiro Martinez; and Jerry Day, arrived. Martinez armed with a shotgun, fired; McCoy went to his right. Then Martinez fired a 00 buckshot 12 gauge shotgun. He killed Charles Whitman in the neck; left side of his body; and head. "I got him!", he yelled. And, with other Police Officers, Harold Moe; George Shepard; and Milton Shoquist, helping out, the terror was over.

FOOTNOTE: With the rise of "The Black Panthers", (1969); and "Symbionese Liberation Army", (1973), the LAPD and SWAT teams had more powers.

By 1967, (the year before the assassinations of RFK and The Reverend Martin Luther King, Junior), the owner/managers of the Tower paid $US5,000 to quote, "Fix things up", unquote. By 1968, the Tower re-opened. Sadly, by 1974, several suicides caused the Tower to close. And it was closed in 1975. And, by 1999, it was again re-opened. But, for visitors, you had pass the metal detectors...and other security matters. By 2003, The University of Texas spent $US1 million dollars on a "Memorial Garden", to honour the victims of Charles Whitman.
