~*~Author's Notes~*~ Hey guys!!! I updated!!! yay!!! :D so this one is taking place after what happened last chapter. No Adeen or Bruce in it. It's a cute fluffy chapter about Jade and Steve. I hope you enjoy! (Even though I know a lot of you want AdeenxBruce from comments on my other stories wanting me to update but I like to focus on other characters also.) :)
Jade sat in silence as she looked down at the floor. She had a very sad expression upon her face as she let out a sigh. Clint walked into the room and stopped once he saw her. He just stared at her and began to feel stupid for what he did. He never wanted her to see that or be upset whatsoever. He slowly approached her and sat beside her remaining silent. Jade knew he was there but didn’t acknowledge his existence. She continued her staring contest with the floor. Clint looked at her saddened face and could see how tormented she was.
“Did you just date me to make my sister jealous?” she finally asked, keeping her gaze down.
“No, I would never do that to you, Jade…” Clint answered her, slightly shocked by her question.
“Then what the Hell was that back there, Clint?” her voice was beginning to get angrier as she finally looked up at him with narrowed eyes. “Because you sure didn’t seem like you even cared about me.”
Jade stood up and began walking towards the exit of the room wanting to desperately get away from him. Clint stood up quickly and went after her grabbing her arm gently. Jade ripped her arm out of his grasp and whipped around glaring at him with tears streaming down her face.
“Don’t…touch…me…we are through. Don’t talk to me ever again. I can’t believe I actually gave a damn about you. I should have listened to Adeen at the beginning.”
She turned around quickly and hurried out of the room. Clint just stood there watching her leave. He did really care for Jade, he did, but he still had feelings for Adeen. Now he screwed over both of the women he loved and was now all alone. He ran a hand through his hair and began walking out of the room, walking the opposite direction of Jade.
She walked down the hallway, trying to make sure no one saw her upset. She looked over her shoulder, not paying attention and accidently bumped into someone. Jade began to stagger backwards, almost collapsing to the ground when a muscular arm wrapped around her waist to keep her from falling. She looked up to see who the person was that she had bumped into. Her face flushed a dark red when she saw it was Steve. She noticed herself staring at him and cleared her throat, averting her eyes rapidly. Steve noticed and he smiled lightly chuckling in a soft manner. He noticed her tear streaked cheeks and his smile vanished, becoming extremely concerned.
“Jade, are you all right?” Steve inquired softly trying to comfort her.
“I-it’s nothing…I don’t want to trouble you with my problems…” she answered in a stutter.
Steve gently raised his hand and stroked his thumb softly against her cheek, wiping the tears away. He gazed down at her with a soft expression. He knew something was the matter and he hated seeing her so upset. He pulled a strand of her now long, curly, pink hair behind her ear. Jade smiled lightly up at him, beginning to feel slightly better from his gentle touch and his presence in general. Steve returned her smile and rubbed her back gently.
“I know you are upset…but if you don’t want to talk about it…I will respect your wishes.”
He slowly let go of her arm and flashed her a sweet smile and began to walk away. Jade bit her lower lip like she always did when she was indecisive or nervous about things. She let out a sigh and grabbed his arm pulling him back towards her. Steve staggered back some and laughed lightly then looked down at her.
