Lost: The Crash/Book One

Flying

"Bye David" Tom's family all says in unison as they drive away.   turn around to see the small, silver terminal waiting for me.  I run inside and I load my stuff on to the loader.  I run to my gate and sit down at one of the plastic chairs. 
"You flying to Brazil?" a girl about my age(13) with light blonde hair and a blue dress says. 
"Ya" I say.  "I guess I will see you on the plane"
"Ya" she says. "see you there!"

I get nervous as i walk down the long gate hallway on to the plane.  What if i crash?  What if I die?  What if i never see my parents again.  What if what if what if.  I push the bad thoughts out of my head.
I sit down at my seat, witch to my unluckiness is a window seat.  The girl who i had seen earlier plops down on the seat right next to me,  And then another boy sits next to  her. "hey, my name is josh, Lela told me all about you"
    "Uhhhh, she's only known me for about ten minutes, I don't know what she could have told you?" I guess that the girl I saw earlier was Lela. "So, Josh and Lela, nice to meet you, I hope we will get to know each other better on this flight. By the way, where are you guys going in Brazil?". i say
    "We are going to Bahia" Lela says to my surprise, because I am also going to Bahia. "Are you?"
    "Ya, For my Dad's work" i say.
    "Oh, same here, what company?" Josh asks.
    "Uh, he started his own company called Tarmek. It's a business that builds and owns solar panel fields, oil rigs, and windmill turbines. they sell electricity and oil." I say
    "Wow, same here. our dad must work for you!" Lela exclaims. "Thats so cool! we will probably know you in Bahia!"
Our conversation is interrupted by the flight attendant. "Please put your seat belts on and enjoy the flight. Thank you for flying American Airlines!"

While we sit by the runway waiting for the planes in front of us to take off, I start to get really nervous. Next to me, Lela notices that I am am nervous. "Hey, it's just a plane flight, your fine." and then she grabs my hand and smiles at me. This was an unexpected move. But when she does, it makes me realize how pretty she is. Then I start to think I might like her.
    All of the good thoughts about Lela leave my head as our plane gets on to the runway. The plane starts to accelerate and my mind goes blank. One hundred things go though my mind, including crashing. But then Lela squeezes my hand, smiles and says " calm down David, we're only flying.".

    I wake up in the plane, and I look to my right to see Lela and Josh.  Lela is still holding my hand.  I must have taken off during the takeoff.  I look out the window and see that it is pitch-black.  I check my phone and it is 10:45.  Nothing is really going on, and I don't want to play on my phone, so I go back to sleep.

    I wake up again and hear a faint sound. Weehooooo! Weeehooo! My heart raises as the sound gets louder and my mind comes back to reality. I look over and see Lela and Josh who both have shocked faces.
    "One of the engines failed and now we are falling, stay calm.
    I think about that and say "Really, we are falling in a plane, somewhere over who knows where, and you are telling me to calm down!!!"
    "Hey, we're in the Amazon, and chill out dude."
    I start to get a nervous breakdown, sweat is all over my face. I think about texting my dad and telling him I am crashing, but I am too scared.
    Lela sees me and once again grabs my hand, smiles, and says " Calm down David, we're only falling".
