"Would you please sit still," Kelly said. She was trying to curl my hair for the wedding and it wasn't helping that I was basically bouncing in my seat.
"I can't help it, if this doesn't go as planned I am going to end up married. MARRIED! I can't fucking be married at eighteen it will ruin my WHOLE life. No more going to bars and doing random body shots, not more flirting with hot guys. Nothing I am just going to be a boring old house wife," I said getting everything off of my chest.
"Its not going to be that bad. You can still go to school, declare a major, get a career. You don't have to be a house wife, you can still live a life, just without screwing random guys. So it just reduces your chances of getting an STD," she said trying to make this funny.
"I just have to have faith that all of my research is correct," I said taking a deep breath to try and calm down and stop moving. I didn't really want Kelly to end up burning me.
It took around five hours for everyone to get ready, but we were now arriving at the church and the wedding was going to start in about ten minutes.
I was waiting when my father walked up and took my arm handing me my flowers to me. I got to choose the flowers much to Sheryl's dismay.
"What the fuck are you doing here," I asked through clenched teeth, grabbing the flowers out of his hand.
This day just keeps getting better and better...
"I am here to walk my daughter down the isle on her wedding day," he replied.
"No, you are here to force your daughter down the isle on the worst day of her life," I got out before the music started and we began walking down the isle.
I didn't smile the whole time, though Gabriel looked like he was on cloud nine.
Poor sucker, he doesn't know what's coming. Come to think of it, no one really does...
We stopped in front of Gabriel and my father took my hand and gave it to Gabriel who lead me to stand before the alter.
"Who gives this women to this man?" The priest asked.
"We do," My parents answered.
"We are gathered here today in the face of this company, to join together Gabriel Micheal Stephens and Leandra Elizabeth Mildridge in matrimony; which is an honourable and solemn estate and therefore is no to be entered in unadvisedly or lightly, but reverently and soberly. Into this estate these two persons present come now to be joined. If any one can show just cause why they may not be lawfully joined together, let them speak now or forever hold their peace..."
"I guess this is where I speak," I said causing the crown to gasp and the Priest to give me a really funny look.
"I am sorry, but I can't go through with this. It isn't fair to me and it isn't fair to Gabriel... because... well I'm gay," That really got a reaction out of the crowd, "Nah I'm just joshing ya, I'm not gay, but I am still not getting married today."
"You have to, we have a contract. You are to marry our son," Robert said standing up.
"You heard the dude, this isn't something that should be entered into lightly, and I don't think anyone should be forced into it either," I said.
"According to the contract that doesn't matter," he said, "We have our lawyer here if you want to do this the hard way."
"Sure, then let your lawyer know that I, personally, am not legally bound to that contract. My parents are the ones that agreed to it and they are the ones that signed it. And, because I am now eighteen I am no longer bound to my parents, making that contract have nothing to do with me. Just ask your lawyers."
"She is correct, no where here does it say that Leandra is to be apart of this deal. It is just for leandra's parents, and now that she is of age, she can leave the deal with no consequences."
"And that is what I am going to do," I said walking down the isle.
"Leandra!" Gabriel shouted running after me, "You can't do this to me. I love you, please don't leave me."
"This whole thing has been about what other people wanted, my parents wanted money, yours wanted a daughter, you want the girl you love. No one has EVER asked what I wanted. But now you know, I just want to leave and pretend that none of this happened," With that I turned and ran out of the church and jumped into the limo that was waiting for us.
"Take me back to the house," I said.
I arrived there and saw that my bags were packed and a cab waiting outside.
Man I love those maids...
I got in the cab and headed to the airport, I didn't know where I was going but I knew I had to get out of this state, even country if I could manage it.
Good-bye...
Gabriel's POV
No, this couldn't be happening, she is just making a scene she has to come back.
I don't know how long I just stood there staring at the closed church doors but it finally hit me that she wasn't going to come back.
"Shit!" I yelled running out of the church to find that she took the limo. Not waiting another second I took my keys out of my pocket and unlocked my car door. I burned out of the church heading to the house hoping she was still there packing or something.
I burst through the front door shouting her name but there was no reply. I ran up to her room to find it completely empty. I fell to the floor crying, I couldn't believe she was gone, I really thought that she loved me.
I stood up and saw a letter on the bed addressed to me. It was Leandra's writing.
Gabriel I am so sorry, if you are finding this letter it means my plan has worked and I am now long gone, leaving you there alone. know that this isn't your fault, I don't want you to spend your life asking yourself 'what if' because nothing would have changed the outcome of this.
I want you to go out and find some one that loves you for who you are. I want you to find the woman that I couldn't be. You just have to realize that this would have never worked and it is truly better this way.
I hope you take my advise and go and get your own life. Stop letting your parents control you, it only ends in pain as you now know. Go and be happy, leave me in your memories because thats where I belong. Please don't try to find me, I don't want to cause you any more pain.
Leandra.
I couldn't help but cry harder. Everyone ran into the room and saw the note that I was clutching in my hands and they all knew that she was gone. I could tell that everyone felt betrayed that she could just leave them like that. With no warning and no indication of where she was going.
This can't be the end...
