"Hey." he speaks into the phone, sounding a bit worried.

"Hey babe. How's LA?" I ask clamping my bottom lip in between my teeth. I looked up at Mark who was diligently studying for our AP Calculus test. "It's great. I miss you though."

I smile a little, twirling  apiece of hair between my fingers, "Its only a few days till were together. These two weeks have felt like a year."

The line is silent and i begin to think that he has hung up, "Hey, you still there?"

"Oh yea, sorry, i just got distracted by Johnson doing this sick trick."

"Hey, you wouldn't believe what has stumbled upon me today." I said perking up and grabbing a hold of my pencil. "What happened baby?"

"God, the nerve of some people! So I was at a cafe, just studying, minding my own freaking business, and this girl just waltz in and sits in front of me." I pause for a second, taking a deep breathe,

"I thought she was going to study to, but she's just perched there, watching me like an eagle. I smile at her then she proceeds to fake smile at me and has the audacity to say that I stole her future husband from her!" I hear him laugh from the other side of the line, earning a smirk from Mark as well.

"Its not funny! She was being so dead serious and she just smiles and leaves! Get your fans please, I am scarred to leave my humble home."

He chuckles but doesn't reply. He hasn't really been speaking and it begins to worry me a bit. We really don't say anything but instead i focus on his breathing pattern.

in. pause for three seconds. out. pause for three seconds. in. pause for three seconds. out.

Just like that, its goes on for so long that Mark stops studying to see if I'm still on the phone. He gives me that sort of eye contact asking me if I'm okay. I reply with a nod and small smile.

"Am i intruding something right now?" i ask. "What? Yes, well I mean no. I was doing something but you're not bothering me."

"Alright, well i'll just leave you to it."

"I'll call you later, alright?"

"No, just text me. Call me tomorrow so you can tell me the schedules of your flight."

"Actually, theres something i need to tell you. About the flight, about LA."

"Whats up?"

"I can't leave LA right now, or anytime soon for that matter. Before you say something hear me out. Listen, i am finally recording some music and lately have been going to a crap ton of meetings. I know I'm going to the busy and coming home doesn't sound like it happening, especially with opportunities like this."

I beam as a feeling of satisfaction washes over me. He was out, living his dream, becoming the person he has been dreaming of. Though i am going to miss him very much, i know it will probably just be another week.

"So, how much longer are you staying?" I question. "I don't think I'm going to make it for your prom baby girl."

"Oh thats fine, i decided on not going since i went with you las-"

"Or your graduation ." he mumbles, but clear enough for me to decipher.

Woah. another month without Sam? I mean, I can't just tell him no because this is what he wants. This is going to be the biggest day in my life. Is it not possible to just come back for the week when the time comes?

Technically he can make it, but I feel like theres nothing that I can do. I was there for him when he graduated and he looked so happy, but said he was even happier because i was by his side.

Everything just seems to be falling apart on my side and I don't know what to do. Don't get me wrong, I'm so proud of him but I just don't know how to react to all this. "Baby, you alright?"

"Yea, listen i gotta finish studying." i tell him trying not to sound upset. "Avianna please don't be mad."

"I am not angry, just sad that i won't see you. I am very proud of you Samuel, I really am. I am with you 100%, so don't let me stop you from being who you want to be." I pause, sucking in my breathe, "I will be here, waiting for you at home, then we can have that great California adventure."

"I love you so much baby, I won't disappoint you. I'll text you and later tonight, I will see if we can FaceTime. Thank you for being such a supportive girlfriend and I'm sorry that I wasn't able to come back to see you before i found out this would happen. I love you, if i hadn't already told you."

We quickly said our goodbyes, not wanting to keep Mark waiting any longer. The reason why we were here, at his house, is so we could study, not so he could listen to me talk to my boyfriend.

I was proud of him, but I was selfish for being upset that I wouldn't be able to see him. It has sort of been this on and off long distance relationship, but this was the test. This is where it would be determined if we could make it like this.

It wasn't gong to be easy, I know thats for sure. I continue to focus back on the worksheet. I felt myself beginning to struggle, all my concentration slowly diminishing. I hate that this was getting to me in a way it shouldn't.

"You alright there?" Mark says in a concerning tone. "Yea, why would you think otherwise?" I ask, gnawing at the end of my mechanical pencil. "You've been on question 3 for the longest time, not to mention that that is the easiest one."

I stare up at him, sending him a death glare. He gives me an apologetic look, "Avianna, what is wrong?"

"Sams out living his dream but thats not whats necessarily wrong, you know. He is busy making music, going to meetings and he has to stay at LA for a bit longer and he's going to miss out on our graduation." I say looking up at him, trying to give a small smile. It sucks, it really does, but I know that Mark will do his best to cheer me up because i know thats the kind of person he is.

He grabs ahold of my hand and stares at me before speaking, "Its going to be hard and although i haven't necessarily been through the same situation, and i can't understand what you're going through or feeling, just know that I'm here, alright?" I nod, biting on my bottom lip, "Its going to be okay, so hurry up answering the questions, I need help on number 11."

"Alright," I smile, "but I'm hungry."

He chuckles, "We just had lunch a few hours ago, and you ate a whole bunch of the cotton candy grapes."

"Well, you know i do have a big appetite."

"Alright, just finish question three then we will go grab something to eat." he says as i look into the problem, "Hey i want to come." I hear Noah say from the living room.

"Fine, but you're driving." Mark retorts.

"Well as long as you're paying."
