I sat in the living room with Mark, absolutely terrified as what is to come. We just came back from the ultrasound and I thought that it was a good idea to tell my family that they would have a new addition, especially with pictures.
Nervous was an understatement. I didn't know how my parents would react to a situation like this, especially since I just got out of high school and they're not aware of the true reason Sam and I parted ways.
I wasn't planning on telling them either, which was a surprise considering that it is on the internet to see. With just one google search, all the evidence would be there.
But I decided to not ruin his reputation with my family. I was taking deep breaths while Mark accompanied me, he was nervous for me. Footsteps could be heard coming down the stairs and my parents as well as my brother walked in, sitting on the couch in front of me.
"Hey sweetie, what do you go to tell us?" My dad asks, holding my moms hand in his. For some reason, I saw myself with Sam. It's quite weird, knowing that I still think about him even if we've been broken up for some weeks now.
"Yeah, I was in the middle of something." my brother whines while puffing air out his sloth and crossing his arms like a child.
Takin a deep breathe in and out, i just went for it.
"I'm pregnant."
It came to my surprise when I saw that my brother was the only one to truly react. My parents just glanced at eachother, almost lookin as if they were going to laugh.
My mom faces me, "Baby, we already knew."
"Wait, what? How!" I ask, almost kind of mad. How come they didn't tell me they knew? The fuck, I would like to have known that they knew.
"Well, I would like to say that I didn't know. You're mother pointed it out to me when I got here." my dad exclaims, throwing his hang up on defeat.
"Avianna, you have the glow. Normally you're glowing but I know, it's a mother's instinct." My mom explains as her expression softens.
"So, how do you guys feel?" I ask. "Sweetie, we're not happy that you're pregnant so young. I wish that you could've waited because you still didn't even go through college. This isn't easy you know?"
"I don't want you to drop out, if anything, you need this. The baby needs this. But it's so hard baby, so hard. Especially since the father is no longer in your life." she continues.
Before I could speak, Mark talks over me. "Mrs. Christopher, you don't have to worry about Sam. I am 100% committed to helping Avia raise this child. We have it all planned out. We'll move over to New York and not stay in a dorm but get an apartment. I have a trust fund that I can use to help us pay for all of it." Mark tells them. They look very hesitant and it makes my worry slightly grow.
"You can't keep living on this fund though. Are your parents even okay with that?" My dad questions sternly. "Yes sir, my parents are aware and okay with the situation. They will do anything for her, you know that."
"Don't worry about the trust fund. I already have a nice job ready and set for me when I get there. The hours are extremely flexible and I get $15 with tips. We got this Mr. Christopher."
I couldn't believe the man before me. This wasn't even his own child. It amazed me how he was still supportive and loyal. Mark is going to be raising this child as if it was his own, Just as he said. And he's doing this all because he loves me.
