Chapter 18 – Finally over

Jae rushed to the hospital after receiving a phone call from Mr. Kim that Mirae's surgery is successful and she's about to be awake. She went into the ward with a grin, greeting Mirae's parents. They were curious, what made her smile be this big?

With a smirk, Mrs. Kim asked, "What had happened after you said you're coming back here?" Jae smiled with a proud feeling.

"I caught the culprit. She's with the police now; I've to get back to the police station after she's awake." She said. Mr. and Mrs. Kim brightened up immediately.

"Who is it?" Mr. Kim questioned and Jae bit on her lips.

"Lee Yoonhee." She replied, more like whispered.

Mr. Kim closed his eyes and rubbed his temples.

"I thought she's one good kid, but looks like I'm wrong." He muttered.

"That girl was her everything before you came to our house. Poor Mae, I hope she'll be ready for the news." Mrs. Kim saddened as Jae's glazed turn hard.

"She will be fine." Mrs. Kim turned to Jae with lots of question marks in her head.

"They're enemies. Mirae will be fine, I'm positive."

"What happened?" Mr. Kim asked, grabbing chairs for them.

"It all happened when Yoonhee was talking to her friends in school. Mirae went there to look for her after a huge fight between them to apologise, but Mirae heard something she didn't want. And that's when the friendship was destroyed." She told.

Her parents shook their heads in disapproval and pity. How could her daughter suffer so much and they didn't know a bit? 'No wonder Yoonhee didn't come over for years.' Mrs. Kim thought.

"Before you came, I have always treated Yoonhee like my own daughter. I didn't know she would do something like this." Mrs. Kim said. "But I'm glad you're here to replace Yoonhee, to be Mae's best friend now." She smiled and touches Jae's hair. "It's okay that your parents don't want you anymore, you still have us." Mrs. Kim muttered with a smile.

"Yes, you still have us. Jaehee, do you want to be our adopted daughter?" Mr. Kim said with sincere, holding onto Jae's hand.

Jae smiled with tears of joy and nodded her head. "Of course I do! I would love to call someone my dad and mom!" She shouted. Mr. and Mrs. Kim had the biggest grin on their faces.

"After Mae's awake, we'll go to the law firm to get the documents done." They all nodded and stared at Mirae who was sleeping on the bed.

Jae excused herself out of the room and made a call to Chanyeol. "Hello?" Chanyeol answered after a few rings.

"Oh hey, I found the culprit." Chanyeol's eyes turn big after hearing the news from Jae.

"And Yixing hyung was right; she's really the one behind all these plans."

Jae was confused.

"Why is that so? Do you already know this beforehand?"

Chanyeol sighed and nodded as if Jaehee could see him. "Yeah. Yixing hyung got an inspector to search for some files and the inspector told us that night at that scene, there was a CCTV placed there. He looked through the CCTV and saw Yoonhee. I thought of calling you right after I know the news, but my battery was flat, so were the other member's phone. And now you called me just in time as I was going to call you." He explained.

"Oh. Anyways, Mirae's out of the surgery already, she's waking up soon."

"Jae, she's awake!" Mrs. Kim yelled as Jae turned back, facing the door.

"I'll call you back later, Yeol oppa. Your dearest's awake. Goodbye!" She hanged the phone and rushed into the ward.

"Did you call the nurses already, Mom?" Mrs. Kim nodded and kissed the back of Mirae's hand.

"I'm glad you're awake faster than we'd expected. Do you know how dead worried we all are?!" Mrs. Kim exclaimed as Mirae chuckled.

"I'm fine. And why is Jae calling you Mom too?"

All of them laughed as the nurses and doctor walked into the ward. "We'll explain to you after the doctor get you checked." They left the room for the professionals.

"She's fine and she can discharge later this afternoon if you're ready." Mr. Yoon smiled and left after the Kims had thanked him.

"Explain now, omma, I am dying to know!" Mirae pouted.

"Alright, they've adopted me as their daughter but I'm not legally their daughter yet." Mirae urged Jae to continue.

Jae rolled her eyes and continues, "Until you're discharge and then we can go to the laws firm and get everything done once and for all." Mirae smirked and hi-fived with Jae.

"I like this idea. And I'm ready to be discharged, so dad, can you sign for me to get discharged?" Mirae pouted and stared at her dad with puppy eyes.

"I... I'll go sign the form now." He sighed and walked out.

Mrs. Kim chuckled. "Chanyeol resembles of him."

Mirae asked, "Why so? Chanyeol doesn't resemble appa in any way at all, omma."

Mrs. Kim chuckled again. "Both of them can't stand aegyos from the girls."

The 3 ladies laughed. "Oh right! After we go to the laws firm, we've to get you a new phone since yours spoilt after that brat threw it in the water." Mrs. Kim said, patting on Mirae's hands.

"Mom, she's not a brat." Mirae frowned.

"Oh god, Kim Mirae, you're not going to speak good stuffs behalf of her again, aren't you? She doesn't even appreciate any small little things you do after that huge fight, Mae. Stop, it's really time for your heart to die for her." Jae spoke with softened eyes.

"Fine." Mirae answered and blowed her fringe. Mirae stood up and got changed into her own clothes and smiled at her reflection.

"Finally I'm going to see you, Park Chanyeol. I missed you so much. Wait for me, I'll be there soon." She smiled and got out of the toilet.

"Let's go now, I can't wait for Jae to be my legal sister and get my new phone!" They laughed at Mirae's eagerness.
