"We should get back before they send a searching team" rose says half serious half joking.
Ren exhales partly amused, partly annoyed and pushes himself up off the sand.
"Yeah," he mutters, brushing the grains off his pants. "Wouldn't want Ray breaking down doors because his precious little sister went missing."
But when he offers her a hand up, his grip is firm warm and he doesn't let go immediately once she's standing.
His thumb brushes lightly over her knuckles.

By the time Ren returned home, the mansion had fallen into an uneasy silence.
Most of the guests had already left. A few staff members moved quietly through the halls, clearing away empty champagne glasses and expensive decorations that had looked perfect only hours ago. The music had long since stopped, leaving behind nothing but the faint echoes of a party he hadn't wanted in the first place.
He loosened the collar of his shirt as he climbed the staircase, exhaustion settling heavily into his bones.
"Young Master."
One of the house maid bowed slightly as he passed.
"Your birthday gifts have been moved to your room."
Ren gave nothing more than a distracted nod.
He wasn't interested.
He never was.
Every year it was the same-designer watches, limited-edition suits, expensive pens, collector's items, luxury perfumes.
Thoughtful on paper, perhaps, but all chosen by assistants, secretaries, or people trying to earn favor. Gifts with price tags instead of meaning.
He pushed open his bedroom door.
The sight waiting inside almost made him sigh.
Boxes.
Bags.
Wrapping paper in every imaginable color.
His king-sized bed had practically disappeared beneath a mountain of presents. The nearby sofa was buried as well, ribbons spilling over the armrest onto the floor.
Ren stared at the mess for a long moment before muttering under his breath.
"Ridiculous."
He stepped farther into the room, intending to ignore all of it and collapse into bed.
Then something caught his eye.
Nestled awkwardly between perfectly wrapped luxury gift boxes was a small paper gift bag.
It looked painfully out of place.
The wrapping paper wasn't perfectly folded.
The tape had been applied slightly crooked.
The ribbon wasn't tied evenly.
One corner had been crumpled, as though whoever wrapped it had struggled for several minutes before finally giving up.
He walked over and picked it up carefully.
It was surprisingly light.
His thumb brushed over the unevenly folded edge of the wrapping paper. He reads the name on.
"So this is your wrapping skill, huh?"
He let out a quiet chuckle.
"It looks terrible."
