Four days later and everyone had adjusted back to things. Tegwyn had her baby girl, her name is Grace Chekov. Gracie is her nickname, there wasn't a middle name. Chekov loved that little girl more than life itself.
Alaska had surgery to remove the miscarried baby. It was a boy. They named him Dylan Joe McCoy. Bones was very upset about the baby dying, but he accepted it.
Jim hadn't eaten or slept in a week again. Well, he slept a little bit, but he never ate. Naomi was getting more and more worried everyday. He was slowly making himself sicker and sicker. He was losing weight rapidly and not gaining in back. He was five pounds away from being confined to sickbay. He used to weigh 170 pounds, now it was 140 and still dropping. It wasn't good.
Malcolm had gotten and infection and was sick himself, making Naomi worry and fuss over him. Chris wasn't allowed out of sickbay for a while. Elliot could barely lift his casted arm, the weight was too much. Malcolm and Chris had to be in sickbay, but Elliot could be home with Naomi and Jim.
Whenever Malcolm and Chris were sleeping, Naomi would either sleep, eat, or visit with Chekov, Tegwyn, and the new baby. Alaska had to stay in sickbay for a while, but she was allowed to walk around and often watched Malcolm and Chris when Naomi was sleeping.
Jim could barely handle all of it. He had two kids badly injured in sickbay. Even though it was nothing fatal, he was still extremely worried. Jim also had a son with a broken wrist, so he couldn't do much either. Being captain of a starship, especially after a federal attack, is the most stressful thing that can ever happen. At this point, ably he could sign things and oversee then. The only way Spock could take over was if Jim passed out from lack of food or sleep, or if he died.
"Jim!" Naomi yelled, jogging to catch up with him in the hallway.
"Why aren't you with the kids?!" Jim exclaimed, worry on his face. "Did something else happen? Are you okay?"
"Jim, I'm fine. You're not." Naomi said, grabbing his hand and stopping him in the middle of the hallway.
"Yes I am." Jim mumbled, trying to walk away. Naomi just pulled him closer.
"No, you're not. Come to sickbay, eat a little. Sleep a little. You can check in the kids. Spock can handle it for a couple hours. At least let me have a couple hours of you sleeping. Please." Naomi begged, tearing up as she talked.
"I can't." Jim mumbled, sympathetic.
"Yes you can. Please. I'll wake you if there's something that needs to be done. Spock wants you to sleep too, everyone's worried." Naomi insisted, pulling Jim in the direction of sickbay.
"Fine." Jim muttered, walking with Naomi.
Malcolm and Chris' room had two couches and three chairs. Naomi pushed Jim into one of the couches can forcing him to lay down. She dimmed the lights so it would be easier to sleep. Naomi brought over a pear and a glass of water. Jim managed to drink half of the cup of water and a quarter of the pear before he fell asleep, dropping the fruit. Naomi out a blanket over him and sat by the kids, watching Jim sleep.
Twelve hours later, Naomi was woken up to a crying baby. Quickly, she picked up Chris and rocked her back and forth lightly to calm her. Jim was still asleep, he would be mad when he woke up. She made him sleep longer than they agreed on.
Chris settled down to her mothers touch. She fell back asleep, her breath steady. Naomi set the sleeping baby back down before she laid down and fell asleep herself.
"Naomi!" A voice exclaimed, more panicked than angry.
"What?" Naomi asked, opening one eye to see Jim.
"I needed to be back at work, how could you let me sleep fourteen hours!" He said, sighing as he sat down next to her.
"You needed rest and I didn't know when I'd convince you again." Naomi answered, getting some food for him. This time an apple and a small piece of chicken.
"I can't eat all of that, I don't have time." Jim said, standing up to leave.
"Uh uh uh uh uh uh. Sit down." Naomi ordered, setting the food by him. He stabbed the chicken with a fork and ate a couple bites.
"I'll eat the apple in the bridge." Jim said, taking the apple. "Love you." He muttered, kissing Naomi.
"Love you." Naomi said, kissing him back.
"Love you kids." Jim whispered to the kids before he left. After he walked out the door, he threw the apple in the trash.
The bridge was busy, but Spock had handled things well. Chekov say at the helm, his first day back after Gracie was born. He didn't want to be there, he much rather would be with his daughter, but a job was a job.
Jim sat in the captains chair and instantly had tons to do. Lots of reports to sign, much damage to over see repairs. Sulu had the ship floating in space so they didn't waste power, but he had to hold the ship steady. Uhura was off work right now and Spock had just left.
"Why. Why. Why. Why. I want to he with Gracie and Tegwyn. Not here on the bridge at work. Why. Why. Why. Why." Chekov kept muttering to himself, calming his nerves.
Jim worked all night and all day for five more days. Barely eating, only a couple bites when Naomi forced him too. He never slept unless he accidentally nodded off while working. It would be a stressful few weeks.
