**CHAPTER SONG: Jessie J - Nobody's Perfect (Netsky Remix)**
"I'm not gonna like any of this am I?" I asked, collapsing into one of the leather high-back chairs in front of his desk.
"I don't think so Princess." He hadn't called me that since he'd frozen me out earlier in the day and I felt like it meant that maybe he'd thawed out a little bit.
"You can't call me that." I said anyway, hoping to strike a nerve. He sighed and rubbed his hands over his face.
"I can call you whatever the fuck I want Princess, not a lot you can do about it." I shut up then and closed my eyes waiting for him to explain what the hell was going on.
"Start at the very beginning. Tell me it like a story so I don't get confused." I told him, opening my eyes to see a pained expression on his face.
"Okay... Okay. Just know that everything I did, was for your protection. I did it so that-"
"Just tell me Jay. Stop stalling."
"Okay." He took a deep breath in. "When you left on your birthday-" He stopped for a second.
"Yes?"
"What date is it?"
"February 14th." I said, seeing his face drop.
"It's your birthday." He whispered and I winced, realising I'd let the cat out of the bag. "It's-" he looked at his watch. "8PM on your birthday and I completely forgot... You didn't tell me."
"I didn't get chance to say anything this morning before you..." I thought back to our little meeting in this very room, earlier on in the day. "Yeah." I managed.
"I can't believe I forgot." He seemed to be talking to himself. "You're twenty, this is big."
"Not really, I mean-"
"You left two years ago today." He interrupted and I winced again, not wanting to relive this.
"Yes," I whispered, lowering my head so that I didn't have to meet his gaze.
"I never found out the exact reason that you left." He said, just as quietly back to me and I looked up to give him a hard stare.
"I killed someone Jay. On my eighteenth birthday, I killed someone. So you can't really blame me for going over the edge a little, can you?" He didn't reply but seemed to think about that day for a few seconds, just like I did.
"Just breathe Princess it's okay."
"What am I supposed to do now?!" I cried, my hands shaking so much I could barely keep hold of the gun.
"Clean up as much as you can, get the body into something that won't leave a trail behind, a bin bag or sealable object. You're going to be fine Princess just stay calm." He tried to soothe me.
