**CHAPTER SONG: Haley Reinhart - Can't Help Falling in Love**
"What are you doing Princess?"
"Cooking bacon... What are you doing Jay?"
"Stopping you from cooking bacon because you shouldn't be out of bed."
"It's been two weeks... I'm fine, okay? I'm not made of glass and if I want a bacon sandwich then I'm gonna make myself a damn bacon sandwich. You know what will happen if you try and deprive me. Everyone within a five mile radius will curse you for bringing such torture upon them."
He chuckled in response and shook his head before sitting at the breakfast bar and watching me turn over the bacon in the pan. It had been a long two weeks since the whole shooting and drowning incident, but I'd come out of hospital a couple of days after it and had been sentenced to bed rest by not only the doctor but also by Jay. Okay, mostly by Jay.
"Here's yours." I announced. "With ketchup and brown sauce." He looked up and laughed.
"Okay, number one, I didn't ask for one. And number two, you remembered how I have my bacon sandwiches?" I looked up and smiled, then tried to pass it off as if I didn't care that much.
"You just had that look in your eyes that says you want bacon as much as me... And as for the sauces, I've never met anyone else who has ketchup and brown sauce, so I guess you're just lucky."
"Whatever helps you sleep at night beautiful." I rolled my eyes at him and plated up my own sandwich before sitting down next to him and holding in a wince as I felt my stomach twinge with slight pain.
"So what's on the agenda for today then Boss?" I asked, knowing that he hated it when I called him that.
"It's Jay to you and as far as your day goes, it involves another Gossip Girl marathon, just like yesterday. As for me-"
"Seriously? I don't need to finish another season of Gossip Girl to know that Chuck and Blair belong together and that the majority of characters need to take a stick out of their ass. And don't even get me started and Dan and Serena, I mean come on-"
"I have no idea what you're talking about, you know that right?"
"Just agree with me, okay?"
"I wholeheartedly agree with you Princess."
"Thank you."
"Now eat up, I have something to show you."
Once I was finished, Jay led me out into the back garden through the newly repaired glass panels after the attack. He was careful not to touch me, just like he had been since I'd left hospital, which I was eternally grateful for because it meant that he wasn't pushing me to be with him or make a decision, he was just giving me time to recover and get my head straight.
