AVA

Worry and doubt were overwhelming my thoughts. It's official: I'm taking a gap year in Manchester School of Architecture and I'm moving to Germany, to be with Adnan. I let my heart decide over my mind; in fairness, I haven't even tried living with Adnan yet, this was all just my mind playing tricks on me. The chances of him getting bored and annoyed with me were very, very, high though.

I don't know anyone, literally no friends or relatives in Dortmund, let alone Germany. Papa pulled some strings at a local Architectural firm in Dortmund, he only knew of the Principal Architect and had asked if I could work for a year. As I had no degree in Architecture, and I had recently dropped all my subjects, the only work I could get was to be an assistant to the Senior Associate Architect. Basically, my job, should I even be accepted, would entice for me to transfer to AutoCadd (an Architectural software) all his manual working drawings. I would essentially be glued to a desktop computer whilst at work.

My heart was racing as the plane was nearing the terminal gate. Adnan was waiting for me at the arrival area, he called me before I left Manchester telling me that he had asked a new friend of his if he could drive him to pick me up. Adi still had no car in Dortmund, he was waiting for me to arrive so I could accompany him to buy a new vehicle.

To process my papers in University took longer than expected; I received my official slip allowing to enroll next year just two days ago. We've been apart for almost a month now, Adnan was awfully eager to see me, as I, with him.

I finished immigration quickly and got my luggage, I had to squeeze in most of my clothes in 2 huge bags. I was heading out with my luggage securely placed on a trolley when I spotted Adnan with a large bouquet of flowers, standing near the exit doors. God, I've missed him.

We both walked closer to each other and he greeted me a massive hug and a sloppy-I-don't-care-if-anyone's-looking kiss, "Remind me never to allow you to be away from me for more than one week," he whispered, "Je vous ai manqué, mon bébé." (I've missed you, my baby)

"Hello to you too, AJ." I happily said as he handed me the flowers and held onto the trolley. We walked towards his friend, who gave us space and a few seconds of alone time.

I had to hold my breath and act cool, when all I wanted to do was to run to his friend and ask for an autograph, how could I not freak out? Standing a few feet away from me was Adnan's newest teammate and chauffeur, Erik Durm.

"It's nice to finally to meet you, Ava." He stepped forward to hug me. Adnan raised his eyebrows at me, he knew I had a massive crush on him.

"Hi." I said but it came out more like a squeak.

"Let's get you home, Aves." Adnan said, leading me to Erik's car parked in the structure next to the airport. Erik offered to push my trolley and walk ahead of us, giving Adnan and I more time to talk to each other, "You're going to love our new home."

Our new home.

Before Erik dropped Adnan and I home, we grabbed a bite, seeing as it was almost noon and their training wouldn't start until four. We dined at Albero Verde, since Adnan had a knack for Italian food.

The restaurant was packed, seeing as everyone from work was out for lunch during this hour. Erik had reserved a table earlier, allowing us to be seated immediately. I was looking through my menu as Adnan excused himself to go to the loo. This silence with Erik was awkward, for me at least. He was carefully studying the menu and I was trying to occupy myself with my cellphone.
