Daniel sat across from Y/n as though this were nothing more than an ordinary meeting between two people who had no reason to be afraid of each other.

A faint smirk rested on his lips, carrying the same quiet arrogance she had come to despise long before she ever understood why.

Y/n struggled to hold his gaze for more than a few seconds at a time.

There was something deeply unsettling about the way he looked at her, as though his eyes were constantly searching for something beneath her expressions, something she hadn't even realized she was revealing.

She placed both hands around the warm cup in front of her, more for something to hold onto than because she wanted the drink.

"Why did you ask to meet?"

She didn't bother with anything else. No greeting or attempt at pretending this was normal, But Daniel's smile remained.

One thing she had kept from Jungkook was the second note that had come with the bouquet of roses.

She hadn't noticed it that night. It had been tucked beneath the flowers, hidden among the stems, and she had only found it the following morning.

We meet. A place of your choice.

One line, Yet they had been enough to keep her awake the whole night.

She had read them so many times that she could still picture the handwriting without looking at the photograph saved on her phone.

Even now, sitting across from the man who had written them, she could feel the same uneasiness crawling beneath her skin.

Coming here hadn't been an impulsive decision.

It had been the result of hours spent lying awake, turning the same questions over and over in her mind until she couldn't tell whether she was looking for answers or simply walking willingly into another trap.

And perhaps that was what frightened her most. She wasn't sure whether she regretted coming, or if she had made the right choice.

Her decision to leave Kevin outside had only added to that uncertainty.

She knew he would have tried to stop her if he knew who she was meeting, and perhaps that alone should have been enough of a warning.

Daniel's gaze slowly travelled over her. His eyes moved from her face down to the rest of her, lingering long enough to make her shift uncomfortably in her seat before returning to her eyes.

"You put on some weight." His lips curved slightly "Healthy."

Y/n's fingers tightened around her cup but she didn't answer.

Instead, she stared at him with barely concealed disgust, refusing to give him the satisfaction of seeing that his words had unsettled her.

"You didn't answer my question."

Daniel leaned back against the chair, looking almost amused by her impatience.

"What's the rush?"

"You asked me to meet you."

"And you came."

His answer was so simple that it irritated her.

"You sent me a threatening note." Her jaw tightened.

Something amusing flickered on his face. If anything, he looked entertained

"I gave you an invitation."

His fingers tapped once against the table before he leaned forward slightly, lowering his voice.

"But I was beginning to wonder if you'd come at all."
