"I can help you find the answers you're looking for."
I looked at him for a long moment, caught off guard by the sudden statement.
"What?"
He didn't answer immediately.
Instead, he took a few steps ahead and looked around the garden before turning to face me again.
"I want you to see me as someone you can trust," he said, his voice firm.
"I've always trusted you, Kevin..." I replied, the confusion on my face impossible to hide.
"I know." He cut me off before I could say more. "I'm not talking about that."
I stayed quiet, waiting for him to continue.
"I mean... you can see me as an ally." His expression softened slightly. "I can feel the distance you keep because of the guilt you're still carrying from that incident."
As he spoke, he took a step closer. His voice sounded genuine, but that was the last thing i wanted to hop on
"Kevin, I..."
"You don't have to explain." He shook his head lightly. "What I'm trying to say is that you don't need to feel guilty. I enjoy training you, Y/n."
This wasn't exactly the conversation I wanted to have right now. In fact, there was something strangely uncomfortable about this entire situation
I couldn't explain it. Or Maybe I was simply overthinking.
I never kept my distance from Kevin because of guilt, so I honestly had no idea what he was talking about.
If anything, Kevin had been a good instructor.
Even though I didn't exactly enjoy the training sessions, they felt less like a burden and more like a confrontation with myself
Training under anyone else would've probably been much harder.
"I never kept my distance because of guilt, Kevin," I said this time, still looking confused by where this conversation had suddenly come from. "I think there's simply been a misunderstanding."
A small smile appeared on his face.
"I'm glad if that's the case, Y/n." He nodded once. "And I mean it."
I didn't know what to say to that. So I simply gave him a small smile in return.
Then I stood from the bench, brushing the wrinkles from my skirt before turning to leave.
I could still feel his eyes on me but I ignored the feeling and kept walking.
A/n pov
The boy trembled under the cold stare fixed on him.
Several men stood around him, but they weren't there to hurt him.
They simply stood there, silent and alert, exactly where they had been told to stand. Their faces carried no expression, their eyes constantly watching.
Just men doing their job.
Yet Da Min knew better than to let his guard down.
One wrong move or one wrong word. That was all it would take
So he didn't move.
His head remained lowered, his hands tightly clasped together in front of him as he tried to stop the shiver running through his body.
The building itself wasn't as terrifying as the places he had been kept in before.
It stood tall among the other buildings on the outskirts of the city, hidden deep inside an area that was still under development. Half of it looked unfinished, with exposed concrete walls and metal bars jutting out from certain sections.
