Chapter 21

~James POV~

"You what?!" I asked shockingly.

"I almost killed myself that night." She repeated.

My eyes began to tear up.

"It's my fault." I whispered.

I began to cry.

"How is it your fault?" She asked.

I began to get angry... With myself. I punched my hand as hard as I could. "Damn it. I know I shouldn't have gone. I knew I should've of stayed or took you with me!"

I slid down to the ground and covered my face with my hands. "I'm sorry." I said through tears.

"Why are you sorry?" Annabel said as she sat next to me.

"Look at me." She begged.

I looked up. The sight of me upset as I was must have been to much for her. She began to cry again.

"It was my job to protect you. And I left to be in a dumb boy band." I said angrily.

"How is BTR dumb? You met Kendall, Logan, and Carlos... Your BEST friends. And you met me again. If you never left. I wouldn't have been able to come out here and escape that horrible life I had. And we wouldn't have a beautiful baby boy and be getting married next year." She paused.

"BTR is the whole reason you are where you are right now."

I smiled at her "how did you learn to be so strong?" I found myself asking.

"I learned from this person who believed in me even when I didn't believe in myself."

I smiled and looked down at her wrist. "How long has it been?"

She knew exactly what I meant. How long has it been since her last time cutting.

"The day before I left for here." She said covering her scars.

I took her wrist with the scars and kissed them.

"There a part of you. Maybe not a good part but still a part."

Our moment was of course cut short by Kendall crying.

I insisted I handle it. I walked into his room and checked his diaper, he was clean. He was just fed a little while ago so he wasn't hungry. I played with him, he didn't stop. I began to get worried. I screamed for Annabel. She came running into the room.

Chapter 22

~James POV~

I looked at her. "Something isn't right..." I explained to her everything I did to see if he was okay.

"Let me see him. Maybe he wants his mommy."

I handed Kendall to her.

She held him and rocked him a little. "It's okay buddy." She cooed.

Annabel felt his head. Her eyes immediately got wider. "Get a thermometer " she called.

I ran to the bathroom and got the thermometer. Annabel took his temperature.

"It's 104. Call the hospital. We need to get him down there."

I called the hospital once again to tell them we were coming. We got a small bag of the baby's clothes, diapers, and other necessities.

We got in the car and I sped to the hospital. I wasn't paying attention to my speedometer on my car. Kendall was still crying uncontrollably. Annabel was doing her best to calm Kendall down. Over Kendall's crying I began to hear police sirens.

"Crap." I whispered.

I pulled over, so did the cop. I had my license and registration out before the cop was even at my window.

As I opened my window I handed him my papers before he could say anything.

"Well someone is prepared." He said.

"My newborn son is in the back crying, in case you can't hear, we need to take him to the hospital." I said with a slight attitude.

The police officer caught it. "Going the right speed is still expected."

"Give me a fine. I don't care. I'll pay it. My son needs medical attention. That's what's important now."

The officer looked at me for a long time before he wrote some things down and handed me my papers back.

I continued to drive after the cop let us go. I was a little better with the speed but not much. Finally we reached the ER. Annabel, holding Kendall, ran to the desk and demanded for Dr. Patterson.

"Calm down sweetie." I said placing my hand on her shoulder.

She took a deep breath and sat down in the waiting room.

We only waited for 2 minutes until Dr. Patterson saw us. He took Kendall from Annabel and motioned for us to follow him.

"Will he be okay?" Annabel asked hopefully.

"I don't know." Dr. Patterson replied.
