Chapter 45
~James's POV~
I couldn't fall asleep without Annabel next to me. After about an hour and a half I went looking for her. I found her in front of her laptop... asleep. I scooped her up bridal style and carried her to bed. I tucked her in then went back to check her laptop to make sure everything that needed to be done was done. She was magnificent, the invitations look perfect. I couldn't do anything else since it was late. So I accompanied Annabel in bed.
We woke up the next morning to prepare for Kendall's birthday party. The party didn't start until 12, so we woke around 10. I dressed Kendall in blue jeans and a plain white t-shirt.
Next, I got dressed while James watched Kendall then we switched.
Everyone arrived at the party, including my mother... But I was shocked to see: my father.
I hadn't seen my father since the night I left.
*Flashback*
"I don't want you to go honey." Annabel's father said sadly.
"Daddy, I love you, you know that but I can't stay here with Mom." Annabel replied.
"I've tried to call the authorities. You know--" Annabel cut him off.
"I know, she threatens to hurt me even more." She said.
"Is there any way you can stay? I'll protect you" he asked.
"Daddy, you've tried. I need to get away from her." Annabel replied "You know this is hard for me."
Annabel began to cry a bit.
"Don't cry," he began hugging Annabel. "It'll be okay. Everything will be okay."
*End of Flashback*
"Daddy." I whispered. Only James heard me. He grabbed my hand. I nodded at him. I can do this. I picked up the birthday boy and walked towards my parents.
"Hi daddy." I said first. "Hi mom." I added in after.
"Is this your son?" My father asked.
"Yes meet Kendall Schmidt Maslow. My first son." I said handing Kendall to my father.
I gave him a look hinting 'don't let mom touch him'
Speaking of that devil. Why is she so quiet??
Chapter 46
~James's POV~
I'm so worried about Annabel today. I mean she's beyond strong to actually INVITE her mother but now she's over there with Kendall and her mother. I know her father will make sure nothing happens. I decided I'd walk over there. I was stopped by my own parents.
"Hey honey." My mother said.
"Hi mom." I replied.
"Where's Annabel & Kendall." She asked.
"Uhm, she's by her parents..." I said worriedly.
My father caught on quickly.
"Go James, protect her from that wretched women." He said shaking his head.
As I walked away I heard him say "it's horrible the things her own mother did to her. Some people these days..." He said.
He was right. Out of all people a mother should be the one you can always count on. I walked over to them "Hello Mr. and Mrs. Williamson."
"James," Annabel began. "Mom, dad, you remember James, my future husband." She said.
~Annabel's POV~
"I'm glad she has you." My father said to James.
They shook hands but my mother still was very quiet.
"Your son is adorable." She said barely audible.
Did I hear what I think? I expected some rude comment like 'how drunk did you get James before he banged you' or 'that child is ugly like you' but she said he was adorable and didn't even add 'must've gotten that from James' at the end.
I was in shock but I didn't show it. We brought little K around to a couple other family members and friends. We got loads of compliments saying how adorable he was.
Finally it was time to eat. We decided to make the announcement now.
"Attention everyone." James called as he stood up.
"We have an announcement to make." I said joining him. He put his arm around me and hugged me.
"As some of you heard, Annabel and I have recently gotten engaged." He began.
"And I bet some of you are wondering when the wedding is going to happen..." I continued.
"We'll here are the invitations." He said holding up a stack of papers.
He passed them out to everyone there. Even my mother was invited.
"One more thing," James began.
