Chapter 29
~James POV~
As soon as those words left me mouth I regretted them.
Annabel stood up, obviously angry, "What do you mean I can't handle it?!" She shouted.
"I didn't mean it like that. Let me explain!" I pleaded grabbing her hand.
She moved away. "Don't touch me."
"Please baby let me explain!" I begged.
"No. You said it." She said storming away.
I followed her.
"You can't just walk away! Can't we talk about this?" I asked.
"No. I can't handle it!" She said in a mocking voice.
She picked up Kendall and a diaper bag and stormed out the door.
I followed her to the lobby. "Where do you think your going?! You have nowhere else to stay!" I said thinking she'd come back.
"I'll stay in a hotel." She screamed back not stopping.
"Annabel please!" I shouted but she didn't hear me. I watched her walk away. She didn't turn around. I fell to my knees and began to cry. Yes, I, a fully grown man, began to cry. That's how important Annabel and Kendall were to me. I really messed up.
~Annabel's POV~
James was right. Where was I to go? I couldn't afford a hotel! I stopped at a bus stop. I was a pretty good difference from the apartment building James and I lived in. I though for a couple minutes. Mrs. Maslow's voice echoed in my head "if you need anything call me"
So I did. I called Mrs. Maslow.
"Hello?" She said.
"Hi it's Annabel. I uhm kind of need a place to stay for a couple days." I said nervously.
"Oh. Is everything alright honey?" She asked.
"I guess. James and I got into an argument. I took Kendall and a diaper bag and stormed out." I said.
"Sure. You can stay here."
"Thank you Mrs. Maslow." I said.
She gave me her address and I got on a bus. It was about a half hour ride. Kendall was asleep on my lap. I decided to listen to some music. I pulled out my phone. After a couple songs, my phone constantly started beeping.
I was getting texts... And a lot if them at that.
They were all from James.
"Baby please come back"
"We can talk about this"
"I didn't mean it the way I said it"
"Please honey. I love you to pieces."
I got a dozen more texts saying the same type of thing.
Chapter 30
~Annabel's POV~
Finally I arrived at Mrs. Maslow's house.
"Hi honey." She said greeting me at the door.
"Hi baby." She whispered to the sleeping Kendall.
"Hi Mrs. Maslow." I said walking in.
I sat down on her couch. She sat next to me. "You can crash on the couch or in James's room. Your choice."
"Can I sleep in James's room?" I asked. I was starting to miss James but I was still very upset with him.
"Of course" she said.
I walked in. It wasn't very decorated but it still smelt like James.
I put Kendall, who was still asleep, on the bed.
My phone had stopped buzzing finally. I looked through the messages... All from James. It said things like I'm sorry, I love you, please let's talk.
But one stuck out. It was a pretty lengthy message.
It said:
Annabel. Please. Talk to me. I just want to know your safe. I understand you want some space. I regret what I said. I understand you mad but just hear me out. You and Kendall are the most important people in my life. Please call or text me back. I didn't mean what I said. I care about you.
I read the message over and over. I really should call him... He's worried but I was also still very upset.
I put my phone down and walked out of James's room.
"Mrs. Maslow?" I called
"In the kitchen" she replied. "What do you need?"
"Can you call James and tell him I'm okay." I asked.
"Of course! After I finish my dishes okay?"
"Thank you Mrs. Maslow." I said.
"Honey please call me Cathy. I've known you since you were a baby." She said.
I smiled and hugged her.
"I love you more than I love my mother!"
