Chapter 27

~Annabel's POV~

"Yeah?" I replied looking worried.

"I need to ask--"

He was interrupted by a knock at the door.

"Hold that thought."

I walked to the door with Kendall still in my arms.

"Mrs. Maslow! It's been so long!" I said as she pulled me in for a hug.

"So great to see you honey! How are you doing."

"Better now that I'm here." I replied "why don't you come in.

Mrs. Maslow came in and sat in the couch next to James.

"Mom? What are you doing here??" He asked surprised.

"I dropped by to say hello, catch up with Annabel and see my grandson. She picked up Kendall "hi baby. Aren't you adorable. I'm your grandma."

"So you're really getting married?" She asked.

"Yes we are." James began. "We are thinking if pushing the wedding up a tad bit."

I shook my head in agreement.

"I knew you two would end up together one day."

We both laughed.

Mrs. Maslow continued to play with Kendall as we talked.

"We're also thinking of having another child." I said.

James grabbed my hand and smile at me.

Mrs. Maslow stopped playing with Kendall for a moment. "Are you sure your ready for another child?"

James and I looked at each other. "I think we're ready." James said.

"I agree." I said.

"Alright. If you need me, feel free to call me."

She kissed James, Kendall, and I goodbye and left.

I walked her out and when I came back I plopped on the couch.

"I love your mom!" I said.

James smiled. "Yeah me too."

"So uh. Annabel?"

"Yea--" I was cut off my Kendall's crying.

"Someone must be tired. I'll put him down for his nap." I said picking Kendall up.

James sighed.

"I'm sorry sweetie, I'll be quick I promise." I said giving him a small kiss.

I took Kendall to his bedroom and it only took 15 minutes to get him to sleep.

I came back out. "Okay what do you want to ask me?"

"Well," he said nervously. "I'm going on your this summer..."

"Alright. Is that it?" I replied.

"No," he began. "I want you to come with us."

"What about Kendall?" I asked.

My mom already agreed to take care of him. That's why she came over. Of course she thought I'd have told you already..."

"Oh." I said.

"So baby. Will you go on tour with me?".

Chapter 28

~Annabel's POV~

"I dunno." Kendall is still really young. I mean I trust your mom with my life but I'll miss my little boy.

"I will too but I have Kendall and my mom coming to 4 concerts during the tour. That way it's not as long. Plus on break we can fly back to LA!"

I thought about it for a little. "Hmm yes I'll go with you!"

James stood and hugged me. "I'm so glad!! I don't know how if live not being able to see you!"

I laughed "I know. It'd be so hard! But if I need to I can come home right?" I asked.

What if I couldn't handle being cooped up with 4 boys on a bus? What if something happened to Kendall? I needed a plan to fall back on.

"Of course" he said picking me up and spinning me around.

I smiled and gave him a kiss.

It was the beginning May. So the tour didn't start for a little more than a month. Kendall was about to turn 1. He had been talking a lot more. His birthday was May 24.

One day, before his birthday party, I knelt down. "Honey. This summer your staying with grandma. Do you like that idea?"

He looked at me for a moment. Then he clapped-clapping was still his thing- "yeah!" He said adorably.

His birthday party was a perfect chance to warm my family and James family up to the idea they were going to be one big family.

James and I invited almost everyone. James and I sat down to write the guest list for this party.

James looked at me calmly. "Do you want to invite your mother?"

I looked at him then down at my wrists. It had been a while since my last breakdown but there will still scars. They would always be there.

"We don't have too." James added sympathetically.

"I don't know. She has a right to be a part of her grandson's life..." I pondered.

"But," James began "she's treated you horribly all your life and we want the best for Kendall."

"True..." I said.

"How about this," James paused. "We'll invite her but she'll never be alone with Kendall. I'll stay with him when she's close to him. Then we'll see how she reacts."

"Why can't I be with him when she's close?" I argued a little annoyed.

"Because." He said keeping his voice steady. "You can't handle it"
