I sobbed into Trinity's shoulder, completely incapable of forming a coherent sentence. Hell, I couldn't even put together a complete thought. Maybe this was my fault. I mean I did tell him I needed time, maybe that was the wrong thing to say. I wasn't nearly as pretty as Dasia, with her long blonde hair and perfectly slim figure, I should have probably jumped at the chance when he offered. Instead I pushed him right into her arms. And Dasia...she was probably mad at me, I should have been a better friend, what did I know about these things...maybe I missed something.

At first everyone outside was frozen, staring and probably thinking I had lost my mind. It wasn't until Matthew appeared in the door with a sheet around his waist that a flurry of movement occured.

"Ava!" He called out to me, standing in the doorway with one hand clutching the ends of the sheet together and the other reaching out to me.

I pulled in tighter to Trinitys shoulder and shook my head, I couldn't bear to see him right now.

"I don't think she wants to talk right now, Matthew. You should go inside." I heard the uncertainty in Trinity's voice. She didn't want to come between us but she was trying to protect me from whatever was going on.

" Ava, just listen, I can explain!" I heard his voice as he crossed the porch and stepped down. I felt the shift in the air as Grants presence drews closer and I jumped when his hand rested on my shoulder.

A snarl ripped through the air and Grants hand froze where it was.

"Mind yourself pup," he said lowly. "Be careful who you threaten!"

" Get your hand off of her, MINE!" Clearly it was Matthews wolf speaking, the guttural voice and declaration of ownership were obvious indicators that he had taken over.

I spun around. Even if I had done something wrong, something to push him to cheat. He was the one who destroyed the trust. How dare he try and claim me!

"No, Matthew!" I was practically screaming, something totally new to me. Even when upset I wasn't usually a screamer. My voice was shaky but the words were said with conviction.

" You lost that right when you screwed one of my best friends...one of my only friends!"

Trinity gasped as all eyes turned to her but before I could correct their assumption, Dasia appeared behind him. Dressed, but red eyed from crying and with guilt all too evident on her face. Trinity moaned and muttered something under her breath.

Matthew slumped and his eyes returned to their normal hazel hue. "Please, just talk to me. Don't go away with this between us. I need you. If it was because she was a friend of yours, you have to know it won't happen again. I promise..."

He trailed off as I shook my head. I stepped toward him in anger, Grants hand sliding off as I did so.

"It doesn't matter WHO it was Mattew, it was the fact that you did it at all. That the girl was Dasia, well that just means I have fewer real friends than I thought."

Dasia's eyes met mine. Guilt, pain, shame and sadness played across her face. I knew mine were hard. She had a special place in my heart but she knew that Matthew did as well. She knew the security and acceptance he represented, that they both represented.

" Whatever, you two have fun. We have a mission to get to." With that I slid into the backseat of the car and slammed the door shut, locking it to seal the deal. Trinity climbed into the back with me and Grant jumped into the drivers door. The passengers side was occupied with one of the male team members. All I could see was the blonde hair on the back of his head, and the awkward discomfort in the car would probably keep him from making too much conversation.
