Logan and I put the gifts away and people started to show. Mason's mom and dad where here. This is my fist time ever seeing them. Rowan's dad was here to and so was David's grandmother.
She had to be about later 70s or early 80s. She was skinny with long salt and pepper hair. Her eyes caught me though, they where green.
"Have you talked to her yet." David asked coming up behind me.
He wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed my cheek.
"No." I said sadly.
"Why?" He asked moving forward to her.
"What if she doesn't like?" I said trying to move back.
He laughed at me as we stopped in front of her. She smiled at me then frowned at David. She stood yelling at him in French. I looked at him but he was just smiling.
"Mama speak English." David said smiling.
She looked at me grabbing my one hands. Pulled them up and looked me up and down nodded.
"Pretty... Um... Baby." She said looking at me.
"No she's not pregnant, and he's she's pretty." David said kissing my cheek.
He walked away over to the other guys pouring drinks. His grandmother held on to my hand tight. I looked at her and she smiled at me.
"Thank you... Helping him." She said pointing to David.
"I'm happy I did, I love him." I looked at him and smiled.
"Nice girl...good for him" she said pulling me down to sit with her.
She talked to me in broken English and I put together as best I could what she was saying. She reached for her over sized purse and pulled out a small book. She rubbed her fingers over it and smiled warmly.
"Pictures." She said handing it to me.
I smile as I opened it, my head was lost in the first picture I saw. A man and woman with a baby. The woman had jet black hair and covered in tattoos. She had the biggest smile on her face that matched the hot pink dress she was wearing.
The man had green eyes and tattoos like the woman. His hair was blond and his lip ring and black leather made his hair stand out more. But the one thing I saw on both of them was the neck tattoo that read "David".
"My son." She said pointing to the man.
I looked at her then back to the picture. She sat back and I pulled the picture out looking at it closer. I turned it seeing words on the back. I looked back at her to see she had her eyes close. I looked back reading the writing.
Dear David.
My baby I love you so much and you'll never know how much. I saw the doctor today and it was bad news. I have breast cancer, I know it's sad but I'm going to make it, but if I don't I want you to know your my life. I want only happiness for you, I don't want this curial world to turn you into a monster. My baby boy I love you and no matter what the future holds, no matter what happens to me know I lived and died happy knowing you are mine forever.
Love the first girl you ever loved.
I fought the tears that I wanted to cry out. I was the second girl David loved and I wanted to live up to what she wrote. There was more on it but I couldn't read it. Maybe it was written in French because I couldn't tell. I sat the book down and took the picture with me. I walked to David and touched his shoulder. He turned smiling at me.
"Can I talk you?" I said pulling him to the back door.
"Yeah." He said walking with me.
He turned on the back yard lights as we stepped out. He closed the door looking at me smiling.
"If you want to have sex we could just do it in Logan's car." He said laughing.
I didn't smile just handed him the picture. He looked at it and his smile turned from amused to warm.
"Mama had this." He said glancing up at me.
"Yeah turn it around."
He flipped it and read to himself. His eyes turned into glass as he read on.
"I couldn't read the bottom." I said touching his arm.
"I'll read it to you." He said, before he started he took a deep breath.
"Dear David
Your my son and the only one I'll ever have. Your young right now and hopefully the pain of losing your mother won't pain you like it does me. I'm sorry I couldn't save her, I'm sorry I just let the only woman that mattered slip away. I love you little guy and I hope on day you find what I found in your mother. I love you David.
Love your Father." David looked up into the sky and sat on the ground with his legs out.
I sat down on his lap and looked at him. When he didn't look at me I kissed his neck.
"How did he pass?" I asked.
He looked back at me with his now clear eyes.
"After I went to live with the aunt he got into a car accident. From the date on this picture he died two days after he wrote this. I just wish I knew them, even just a little. All I remember from my mom is how she would rub my hair till I fell asleep. All I know of him is that he used to let me pick out his clothes everyday." He ran his finger in my hair and looked at me.
"I hate the fact they both loved me so much and I can't tell you shit about them." He said looking back up.
"I hate the fact I can't make it better for you. I don't want you to be sad but I can't fix it." I said putting my head down.
My head was pulled up quickly and my eyes met with his smile.
"You just being here makes it better. I love you, your my everything, your my forever, your my happiness." He softly kissed me pulling me closer to him.
I grabbed the picture smiling at it and looking at him.
"You where such a cute baby." I said slightly giggling.
"Of course I was, this is god given sexiness." He said flipping his hair.
I laughed at him and he smiled. I knew I could make him feel better if I tried.
"I need to cut it." He said to himself.
"I kind of like it long, gives me something to grab." I said pulling on it.
I straddled him pulling a little harder. I pulled him to me kissing him. He returned the kiss before Logan came threw the back door.
"Come on Mason and Jessica are here." He said looking at us and walking back in.
I stood and helped David up. I grabbed the picture, I need to remember to put it back. Or maybe if I asked nicely she'll let me keep it. I looked at it wondering if she would. David should have this picture.
"I don't need it." I turned to look at him.
"Are you sure you don't?" I asked walking to him.
"Naw, I'm okay. It'll be mine one day but for now she needs it more. But let's go." He said pulling into the house.
Maybe he was right she did need it more. He lost his parents but she lost her son. I know this is sounds stupid and I should have been moved on but I kind of need to talk to my parent. He visit the dead one at least once.
