Zara
"Lacey?! Oh My God, are you okay?"
I knelt down next to her head and pulled it onto my lap, wrapping it in Sadie's leather jacket. "What happened?" I shot at her, but Sadie just stuttered, mumbling and flustered- and obviously a little drunk. "...SADIE?"
"I'm sorry, I just..I don't know!" She cried, letting large streaks of mascara run down her cheeks. "One minute we were dancing and the next she was on the floor..it was just...oh, Lace, I'm so sorry!" She weeped, sitting next to me on the dance floor. People had started to gather round in a circle, and I saw Terra pushing through out of the corner of my eye. "Move it people, those are my friends there-...Come on, Brydee, we haven't got all night!"
She came over to me, and pushed her long hair behind one ear. "I'll call my dad, he's a health practitioner...doctor, he'll know what to do."
I nodded, and moved out the way, gesturing for Sadie to take my place, and walked out into the foyer with Terra.
"Daddy? Yeah, it's me. Well...we have an emergency...we're at a party. I know, daddy...but...look, one of my friends is in real danger and-" She began to sob, so I took the phone from her, gesturing for her to go back inside.
"Please, mister Reynolds...it's really important. It's Lacey, she's passed out in there, and there's a big mosh and...yes, oh, thank you so much!" I hung up, opened the front entrance door and handed the mobile back to Terra. "He'll be here inn twenty...we just gotta keep Lacey alive 'til then.
Layton
I bumped into Zara on the way out, and her soft face cleared my head immediately. She had large, blue eyes with a hint of silver, and long, dark lashes that hung over them like a halo. She normally pulled her short, brown hair back along her crown, leaving the blemishes above her eyes exposed. But now it was hanging wavy and lose, and I had to admit...she was kinda pretty, like a baby-doll. I didn't even realise she had been talking.
"-and, finally, I just wanna say...have you even been listening to me?" I shook my head grinning, and she grimaced, rolling her eyes. "I think I love you Zara." I spat, and her eyes widened, only for a second. And then narrowed, as she took a wary step back.
"Yeah? Well, we've been down that road before...and I know you're lying...for some little joke or something, but leave me out of it. I've been through enough already-"
"-Zara, please," I cut in, wrapping my arms around her waist. She's not pulling away! "I really mean it this time...and-"
"Layton? There you are...ready to go?"
Oh, hot damn!
Aria
"Zara?" I asked, surprised to see her hear, and the affects of the alcohol were finally wearing off, after about 8 hours, I yawned, thinking about it.
"Aria." She spat through gritted teeth, and shot Layton a filthy look, then shot one at me. "You're not actually thinking of going, are you? You're best friend is nearly dying in there!" She growled, disapprovingly.
"Sadie?"
"Lacey."
"Oh, she's not my best friend-"
"But she's dying." Her eyes glazed over, and I felt the urge to pull her into a hug, but given he current situation (and the look on her face) I thought better of it.
"I know...but what can we do?" I whispered, attempting to catch her eyes, and I did. She stared at me straight in the face, answering flatly.
"You can stay."
