As we got on the bus to Uncle Sam's place I was thinking; this was the first time we ever visited Uncle Sam and we had a whole month, public holiday, to enjoy.

I had no doubt that we were going to enjoy, not just because of what I had said previously but also because I am the kind of person who likes adventures and being in a new place was an adventure in itself.

[Boy! Thinking about it now I realize that that adventure was just a tip of the iceberg!]

We arrived at uncle's place and he had a nice house. A three bedroom house and a nice lawn...yard?...whatever.

My sister and I were excited for at that time we were thinking of a game of hide and seek. Being fifteen I did not play the game much - in fact I had not done so since I was nine but looking at the new place that is what came to mind.

We went into the house and uncle introduced us to his housekeeper - Miss Ann. Apart from her there was no one else; no Mrs. Uncle Sam and no kids!

Several games later, we were called to take a bath and then had supper. We slept well that night mostly with very sweet dreams. Sweeter than any I could remember.

The next morning we woke to the smell of something nice cooking. We quickly got dressed and ran out of our rooms.

After a lovely breakfast our Uncle said, "Kids, I have something to not only show you but share with you."

He produced a tiny rock and said, "This is called Lwanda."
