Emily's POV

I sensed someone next to me, and I had no idea where I was. I blinked my eyes open, only to be greeted by a harsh light. Everything was white around me. For a minute, I thought I was dead and I was seeing the light that everyone talks about. Then I heard a beeping noise, that being the heart rate machine, and I realised, I was in fact alive. Still. Then I remembered where I was. I was in the bloody hospital. I groaned, and I turned my head to see who was next to me. Louis. Oh god, I felt so terrible for putting him through that, twice.

"Oh my god, Emily. Hi!" he exclaimed, smiling weakly.

"I'm so sorry," I mumbled hoarsely, my mouth dry, and I immediately started searching for some water, and found some on a table next to the bed.

"Don't be sorry, Em. Honestly," he replied softly, rubbing my arm. He was the only person to call me Em and I liked it.

"I've done this to you twice now, I'm sorry," I said, pouring a glass of water, and sipping it, feeling the immediate relief as the water washed around my mouth and down my dry throat.

"Don't be sorry. Anyway, how are you feeling, love?" he asked me softly, his light blue eyes staring into mine.

"Like a bloody cockroach," I replied with a slight laugh.

"Why a cockroach?" he asked, a confused look washing over his face.

"Because I just won't die." I said simply, causing a grimace to appear on his face, and I regretted it as soon as I saw.

"You'd better stay as a cockroach," he laughed, and squeezed my hand.

"Where's Danielle and the boys?" I asked, looking around.

"They went home, but they'll be back later today," he said to me softly. So they'd come last night. I hardly knew these people, yet they'd come to the hospital with me when I was about to die. Wow.

"What's the matter?" he asked me, looking concerned.

"Hmm? Oh nothing, I'm just thinking about how you and the boys and Danielle have been better friends to me than anyone has lately, and I haven't even known you for long and I just wanna say thank you," I mumbled, looking down at the empty cup in my hands.

"Don't even thank us, it's not necessary. We're always gonna be here for you, like it or not," he laughed and squeezed my hand.

"I'd like that," I said softly and smiled up at him. It was honestly such an odd feeling to smile again after such a long time frowning and crying. I couldn't remember the last time I'd smiled genuinely.

"Knock knock," a doctor called from the door, and he smiled when he saw I was awake. He walked over to the end of the bed and looked at me, concerned.

"How are you feeling, Emily?" he asked me, concern written all over his face.

"Not great," I said honestly, furrowing my brow.

"That's understandable. I've arranged for you to see a hospital psychiatrist later today, so we can sort out what's going on and get you the help you need," he said softly, and my eyes filled with tears. I looked at Louis who looked concerned, and he looked at me with a smile and squeezed my hand.

"Okay..." I began, my voice shaky. "And what will happen?" I asked, tears spilling out of my eyes.

"Well, they'll assess you, and work out a treatment plan for you," he said simply, before handing me a box of tissues.

"Okay.. And how long will I have to stay in here for?" I asked, not liking the fact I was now in a psych ward after they'd transferred me last night.

"It depends on what the psychiatrist says, but probably 3 days to a week," he replied. I thanked him and he told me that the psychiatrist would be up in a few hours, and he left.

I turned to Louis, who was still concerned, and I cried even more.

"I'm such a mess," I sobbed into his chest.

"It'a okay love, you're going to get better, I promise," he told me, stroking my hair.

I stayed cuddled up to him for a while, and then Danielle and the boys came in. I looked up at them and smiled when I saw them. Danielle came rushing over first, and gave me a big hug.

"I'm so glad you're okay!" she gushed, and hugged me again.

"Thanks Danielle," I said to her quietly and smiled.

"Hey Emily!" Harry called, and he rushed over and gave me a big hug.

"Hey Harry! Thank you for last night, I heard that you called out and woke everyone up," I laughed.

"No worries love, hopefully it won't happen again!" he smiled, and was pushed out of the way by Niall.

"I'm glad you're okay Emily," he exclaimed, and pulled me into a hug.

"Thanks, Niall. I expect a good cooked meal when I get home!" I laughed softly.

"Home? You're living with us?" he asked excitedly.

"Yeah, Louis and I think that's probably best for now," I said, and looked down.

"Sounds good, it's great to have you back," Zayn smiled and came over and pulled me into a hug.

"Thanks Zayn!" I smiled and started laughing when he spoke in his accent.

"Don't ever do that again Emily! You scared the Jesus out of us!" Liam smiled, and pulled me into a hug.

"I promise. I'm gonna get better," I said to them all with a smile. Harry and Zayn were sat on the end of my bed, Danielle on the edge, Louis in the seat beside me, and Liam and Niall were standing at the side.

"I'm sorry I've put you guys through this, not a very nice introduction was it?!" I laughed lightly and so did the others.

"Don't be sorry love, we're just glad to have you back! Hopefully we'll get to spend lots of time with you," Harry smiled.

"I'm sure you will!" I laughed, and looked over at Louis who was smiling.

"Do you like carrots?" Louis asked out of the blue, which caused laughter to erupt around the room.

"Louis, if this is a joke about my hair, it's not funny," I glanced him, and he was laughing. I was confused.

"No, no its not about your hair. I love your hair, it's beautiful. I just love carrots, and was wondering if you did too," he laughed.

"Well, okay then... Carrots go alright. I like them enough," I laughed.

"Good! Now we can be best friends!" he said excitedly, causing all of us to laugh.

"Don't worry, he asks everyone that," Niall said, laughing and I nodded and laughed.

We sat there talking for a bit, and Zayn gave me the flowers that they'd forgotten to give me when they got there. I laughed and thanked them, and set them aside to be put in a vase later. I saw a middle aged lady with a kind face appear at the door, and when she cleared her throat, everyone turned around to look at her. She instantly recognised the boys, and she looked shocked at who was sitting in the room before her but she continued with what she was doing.

"Emily?" she asked, with a small smile.

"Yeah, that's me," I said warily.

"I'm your psychiatrist. My name's Tanya," she said quietly, glancing around at Danielle and the boys.

"Oh, uh, we'll be leaving then, it's so great to see you're okay Emily, we'll be back tomorrow love," Harry said with a smile, and they all nodded and pulled me into a hug and left the room. I turned to Louis, who was watching me worriedly.

"Stay with me?" I asked, with a small voice, the fear quite evident.

"Of course," he smiled and squeezed my hand.

Tanya pulled up a seat I hadn't seen before and sat at the end of my bed, her notebook at the ready.

"Let's get started then," she said, smiling at us both, and I tried to muster up a smile, but I couldn't.
