Another Chance (Fairy Tail - Zercy)

Prolouge

The day was a very special one.

Zeref was going to finally tell the girl how he felt towards her. Today was the day to do so as her birthday was just around the corner.

And by that, I mean it was only a few hours away as it was already nine-o-clock that night. Yes, tonight was that special birthday dinner as he planned to make it as romantic and passionate as it could be.

Zeref smiled as he adjusted his outfit Mavis loved on him. She would never fail to make all of his pain go away. It was the simple things, you know.

   Zeref had gone and picked up Mavis at her doorstep. Holding her a single rose behind his back for a surprise as he patiently waited.

    About a minute later, the front door swung open and revealed a dressed up Mavis.

  Her long blonde hair was flowing as she wore little wings on her head and a long pink layered dress.

  She looked stunning. So stunning that Zeref was left speechless and had a bit of pink forming on his cheeks.

  "Y-you look so beautiful." Zeref complimented with what seemed to be a small smile.

  Mavis giggled as she also found Zeref to look quite handsome.

  "Thank you Zeref. You look just as o thought you would tonight." She said in a teasing tone. It confused Zeref as to what she meant by that.

  "What?" He said with a pause. "You don't like it?"

  His smile was dipping down and Mavis shook her hair.

  "No, that's not what I meant. What I wanted to say is that I think you look handsome." She admitted with her signature smile that could melt anyone's heart.

   Zeref dropped his head a little as he tried to hide the smile that slowly crept onto his face.

  He lifted it back up once more and then gradually revealed what he was holding behind him.

  "I thought you might like it." Zeref shyly said as he eyes lit up with happiness.

  "I love it! Thank you Zeref."Mavis took the rose carefully into her grip and then hugged Zeref.

   She pulled back within five seconds and then they began to walk.

   Zeref didn't bring a car because the place he decorated especially for this night, couldn't be reached by car, but rather by walking.

   He was worried about Mavis walking for a long period since it took about twenty minutes to get there, but once he saw her smile, all of his worries washed away.

  Or at least for the most part.

  "Wow!" Mavis exclaimed as she gazed upon the cherry blossom forest. "They're so pretty."

   Mavis ran ahead and Zeref smiled as he took in the rare sight. He was worried that she might trip over the steep steps that led into the mystical forest she had always dreamed of exploring.

"Common Zeref!" Mavis shouted as her voice was filled with excitement. "If you don't hurry, then you might loose your chance of catching me!"

Zeref changed his expression as he saw Mavis tease him by running farther inside the forest.

"Okay." Zeref answered in a teasing tone as he fastened his pace. But even so Mavis was faster.

Almost too fast for him to keep up.

And then she disappeared all together.

"Huh?" Zeref spoke in disbelief as he used his eyes to scan around the forest. "Where did she go?"
