Chapter Seventeen - Goodbyes

Before Master could get hurt from the attacker Zere stepped in, throwing the attacker away from Master, hitting the doors of the guild.

Someone who was cloaked in all black bearing the mark of a guild that was supposed to have died out years ago was the attacker.

But what no one else saw coming was the amount of anger that arose from Zeref.

"How dare you come here and hurt someone so dear to me." Zeref said in a dark and serious tone that sent shivers down my spine.

The air that surrounded him turned to black as his eyes glowed bright red.

I looked down at my left hand and saw the white marks appearing on my body.

We were connected.

I could feel the anger that was inside of Zeref.

This wasn't going to end well since Zeref's power is fueled by his emotions. Anger would only make his fire glow brighter.

The man who attacked got up and wiped his face as there was blood running down from his lips. He laughed and soon appeared four more guys bearing the same mark.

They targetted Zeref this time instead of Master.

And soon enough those guys lived the same fate as the first attacker, they were thrown against the doors of the guild and formed a pile almost.

Zeref looked at me before looking back at the enemy at hand and soon began to finish the fight.

The darkness that surrounded him soon began to surround the attackers that had yet to recover from their fall. It was fast but I was able to keep up as I saw how the darkness infiltrated their bodies and make them turn to dust from the inside out.

For a few moments, no one said anything. Instead, they remained silent.

From the corner of my right eye, I saw Natsu take a rather large knife that belong to the ham that was on the buffet table, and throw it at Zeref's back.

"Zeref!" I yelled out as I ran to stand in front of him, blocking the knife.

Without realizing it I had stopped the knife before it could have even reached Zeref and I, in doing so I also pinned Natsu against the wall, making him float as his feet were no longer touching the ground.

"Lucy." Zeref said as he took in my appearance.

Lucy's hair that had been tied up in a nice hairstyle was now floating free in the air. It looked as though the wind was passing through it. Her entire body was now covered in the white markings that matched the black ones Zeref had on his body. Her eyes that were once brown were glowing golden.

It was a transformation Zeref had never seen before.

Everyone, just as Zeref, was surprised by Lucy's sudden transformation.

"Let him go, Lucy. We don't want to fight." Zeref said as he hugged me from behind, causing me to relax.

I closed my eyes and fell into Zeref's arms as I had suddenly felt dizzy.

"It's the transformation. Your body isn't used to it yet." He said as he picked me up bridal style.

I leaned into his chest as Zeref exchanged glances with Master before he took us home.

I woke up the next day to find that Zeref wasn't by my side.

I frowned.

Where was he? Did he leave after what happened yesterday?

I got up from the bed and made my way downstairs where I found a note from Zeref.
