Chapter Four : New Friends

Natsu and I swam and swam, until I felt something bite my toe...

It was horrible because not only did it leave a mark, but the water was making it sting even more. That's when Natsu left me sitting on the grass while he went to go find a fish that was thought to be rare.

  I gotta say, the sight was pretty amusing watching him yell before diving underwater.

   I smiled to myself as I thought about some of the other moments where he did something similar or just way out of proportion. 

   Last week was a perfect example. On Wednesday Natsu had challenged Gray to a drinking contest. Calling him out by saying that he was an ice monster who was too afraid to do anything, and that's why he wouldn't leave his cave.  The results were pretty funny since neither of them had a strong stomach...

  My eyes drifted off of Natsu and over to the other side of the lake. It was refreshing to see nature.

   But strangely, as my eyes adjusted, I found a man with bright blue eyes staring straight at me.

   He looked familiar?

  "Luce!" Natsu yelled out, making me forget about where I saw the man before. "Look at this!" Natsu then held up the famous fish and I laughed.

  That idiot actually caught it!

   "You should put it back in the lake." I said after seeing the beauty of the fish's scales and fins.

     Natsu smiled as he let the fish go. I guess he was satisfied after catching it and let it go after the pleasure of catching it was gone. It's the same with boys, after the chase is over, what else is there for them to get pleasure from? I wonder if that's why some guys dump girls right after they get what they wanted-because there's nothing exciting for them anymore.

I wonder if that'll happen to me. I hope it doesn't because the last thing I, or anyone would want, is to look or be unsatisfying to the one person I care about...

"Luce!" Natsu once against snapped me out of the trance I lost myself in. How did he have such perfect timing?

"Natsu!" I shouted back with a smile as I saw him come closer towards me. He flashed a smile and I laughed.

"Luce, I heard a place around here has a cheap and delicious ice cream. Wanna go eat some?" He asked and already knew the answer. All it took was a silly smile and he knew.

Eating ice cream with Natsu was a habit. Well actually, it was originally a promise he made to me when I joined the guild.

"To new memories with my new best friend!" He said the first day he unexpectedly bought me a chocolate ice cream on a waffle cone. I can still remember the sweet taste with the warm smile Natsu welcomed me with. He did it between the two of us when my father tried to take me back. It made me feel like this was my home, where I finally belonged to.

And still, Fairy Tail feels like home and will always be my home.

"Let's go Luce!" Natsu shouted as he began dragging me and I blushed. He never fails to catch me off guard does he?

We arrived sooner than I expected at the ice cream parlor. It was full, but the line went pretty fast. No wonder why everyone loves them.
