Jason's pov
Just another day of me, Brantley, and Justin making and drinking moonshine before we hit the road for touring together. This is gonna be a kick ass tour. The three outlaws of country music together, we're gonna bring the house down. Then suddenly I hear sirens and see blue lights in the distance. "Crap! Guys, it's the cops." Justin says, dropping a mason jar. We each grab a walkie talkie and take off in different directions in the woods. Harder to trail us. I don't know if the others got away but I found a little farm house. It looks quiet. I don't know if anyone lives here. I don't see a truck. "Hello?" I whisper, picking the lock. I hear the sirens so I close the door quietly and hide in the hall closet.
Brantley's pov
I hide in my duck blind. I hear the cops running by. After they pass Justin darts over and climbs up, breathing heavily. "Where's Jason!?" He cries. "I don't know. I just hope he doesn't get caught." I mutter, looking out the window, hoping to catch a glimpse of his tan cowboy hat and wranglers.
Jason's pov
I still hear the sirens then the door is yanked open, making me scream. A woman with a shotgun! Crap! I thought this place was deserted! "What the hell are you doing in my house!?" She shouts. "I uh... Runnin' from the law. Sorry ma'am I thought this place was abandoned!" I gasp, my hands in the air. "What are you running from the law for?" "Makin' moonshine. Now I'll just be on my way, sorry to have disturbed you." I say, trying to ease by the shotgun. "Don't move!" Better listen to her. I don't wanna get shot! Someone knocks on the front door. "Police!" My eyes go wide. "Shit!" She sets the shotgun down and closes the door. "Stay hidden." She says. Why is she helping me?
Miranda's pov
I answer the door. "Hi officer, what can I do ya for?" "We're looking for a few men who might be in the vicinity. They're wanted for moonshine." He says, professionally. "Well, it's been quiet around these parts but if I see anything suspicious, I'll certainly call." I say. "Thanks ma'am." He says, tilting his hat and leaving. I close the door. "You can come out now. He's gone." I call. The door creaks open, out walks the cowboy hiding in my broom closet. "Why'd you help me?" He asks. "I wouldn't want someone turnin' me in so I shouldn't turn them in." I reply. His torn muddy wranglers making that cowboy style just completed, along with the boots and hat. I smile and put the shotgun away. "So what's your name or should I jut call ya cowboy?" I ask. He smiles. "The name's Jason but actually around the moonshinin' business and the singing career, my nickname is the cowboy." "It suits you." I say. He chuckles. "Thanks. I uh... Gotta go now... Make sure my friends are okay." He says. "Alright. Just don't go breakin' into any more houses ya hear?" I tease. He nods. "If I break into anyone's house, it'll be yours hot stuff." I blush and shoo him out the door.
Jason's pov
Whoa. She's an alright gal. She didn't turn me over to the cops. I jog to our meeting place, the duck blind. Brantley and Justin are already up there. "Oh thank God Jason did you have a rough time with the cops?" Justin gasps. I sit down exhausted. "Oh I had a hard time but it wasn't no cop that caught me." "Then what happened?!" Brantley cries. "I got caught by a girl." I explain the whole story. "Maybe she's a fellow moonshiner." He says. "What was her name?" Justin asks. I just realized I didn't ask her. I shrug and cover my face with my hat tiredly. "Anyone voting for staying here and sleeping say aye." I grumble. "Aye." They both say, just as tired as I am. "Well, let's hit the sack boys." Brant says. We just sleep in the duck blind hoping it will all be blown over by tomorrow.
