Jason's pov
"Are we gonna make it outta this one, B?" "Of course we are. Boy we fought worse! We're gonna be fine." I'm scared. No. I'm terrified. My wife and daughters must be freaking out. "If that motherfucker unties me, he's gonna be in for a rude awakening." B growls, his hands in fists. The door slams open. "Tsk tsk tsk." Johnny says, shaking his head. "You do know I can hear every word." He glares at him like a raging bull. I dig my fingers in the ropes trying to pull free. I'm so tired. "I'll give you a choice. You can join us and we'll spare you. Or you can stay loyal to Brantley and live out the rest of your days tortured." I force myself to stay awake but after three weeks of constant torture, I haven't slept much. "I'll never betray my friends. I'm not a shine runner anymore anyway. I gave it all up when I got my family back!" "Jason stop!" B gasps. "Your family huh? You mean the chick and the two girls?" Worry fills me. "Leave them alone!" I shakily cry. "You have three hours to make a decision." He says walking out. I have to break free. I have to stop him from going after my family. "B! What do we do?! You're the smart one of the three of us!" He stares at the ground. "We should just accept our fate. There's no way out." My jaw drops. He's giving up. Brantley Keith Gilbert is giving up. "Y-You can't be serious man! You've never given up before!! Why now?! Why now B?!" I'm close to panicking. They're gonna go after my wife and daughters. "You shoulda run when ya had the chance. Ya wouldn't be stuck in this mess." "W-What do you mean?" I choke out, feeling the burn of tears in my eyes. "I'm nothin' but bad news, brother." He whispers, bowing his head. "Nobody knows me better than you Brantley. I'd rather be dead than lose you as my best friend. Come on man, ya can't give up!" "What's the use Jason?! All we have waiting outside is jail!" I shakily lift a hand and place it over his. "Then let's go out in a blaze of glory and not like a couple of sissies waiting for dinner." His eyes go wide. He hops his chair closer. I pull at the ropes on his chair. After he's free, he unties me. "I'm not goin' out, not now and not like this." I say, forcing a smile. "You rang for a rescue?" My eyes go wide. I spin around seeing Justin, Luke, and the rest of the buckmen. "How-" "It sure wasn't easy. Now let's blow this popsickle stand. B smiles. "I'm proud of you, kid." Justin smiles. "Come on man, we're the three amigos. There's no way I'd leave ya hangin'." "Um guys let's jet before Sir Fucksalot gets back." I say, sarcastically. Justin smiles and tosses me my .45 magnum! "Oh yeah baby! Daddy's comin' home!" B laughs. "Let's hit the bricks boys." I say, cocking it.
Miranda's pov
I was laying the kids down for bed when Kendyl asks, "Is daddy comin' home?" Tears filled my eyes and I ran from the room crying. I fell to my knees in sobs. "Oh Jason, where are you?" I whimper, covering my eyes. "R-Right here, sweetheart." My breath catches in my throat. I shakily stand up and turn around, seeing my beaten bruised cowboy. Brantley equally busted stands right alongside him. He drops the gun in his hands and I run into his arms. He spins me around. "I thought you were a goner!" I cry, kissing him. "Ya know I'd never miss the birth of our baby." He says, holding me tight, my legs wrapped around his waist. "It's so good to see your face." I shakily whisper. He smiles back at B and Justin. "Ya got them to thank for it baby girl. Without them, I'd be dead." He whispers, his voice shaking. "W-Where are the girls?"
Jason's pov
"DAD!" I near Keely scream. I look up and see her standing on the top step, Kendyl shaking beside her. "You're okay!" She cries, stumbling down the stairs. I set Miranda down and drop to one knee as my princess runs into my arms. "Daddy's okay." I shakily say as she cries. Kendyl hugs me too and I can't help but tear up too.
*later*
It feels so good to lay in my bed again. With my wife. She was cuddled up close to my side. Fast asleep. I smile and put a hand on her head. "Thank God you're okay." I whisper. I glance at the dresser and see a post it note saying, "Gender appointment tomorrow." Oh my gosh! It's the gender appointment tomorrow! I wonder what we're having. A badass son I can teach the ways of the world to. Another little princess who I'll protect every day with my life. She's sure made my life a hell of a lot better.
