Archie:

"It doesn't make any sense." Jay panted breathlessly as we all got dressed just inside the tree-line glancing over our shoulders anxiously. "They attack us in numbers we haven't heard of in years, hold their own for an hour, and then just...leave? It doesn't make sense!" He yelled in frustration and beat his fist on a nearby tree. Mark grabbed his twin to stop further damage while I scrubbed roughly at my face.

"It's like they were on a suicidal mission." I told the others feeling beyond confused about the whole situation. Seth growled angrily beside me and I glanced over at him. He gets easily riled up whenever Vampires are mentioned, and looks on the edge of another breakdown. "Let's just get to Slade and tell him that the problem is solved. We'll all sleep on it and come up with...something tomorrow." I told the others tiredly and they slowly nodded in agreement. There really is nothing we can do right now; the danger has been eradicated and the Kingdom is safe again. We can't try and work out Vampire logic drained of energy and wounded.

We all began walking -tired and sore- back to the palace. There was a nagging feeling in the back of my mind the closer we came to the entrance, though. The others looked as anxious as I felt, too.

The moment we entered the palace my eyes were directed over to where Maggie was trembling against the wall holding her head. I couldn't understand her mumbling, but felt panicked seeing her this distressed.

We try and keep any hint of Vampire business out of Maggie's ear-shot -last time a small group attacked us she went missing for three months before showing up beaten, wounded and malnourished. All after she trying killing herself.

"Maggie!" Seth bellowed in panic behind me before he was suddenly caging her protectively in his arms. His canines were pronounced and his eyes flickered a dangerous red colour. The others tensed along with me -he's close to becoming Rabid.

It's different to having your Beast in total control -personally, I think the Beast is the worst because you have no memory or conscious thought and can be lost for years. The Beast can slaughter entire towns searching for its sanity. Being Rabid is just...a serial killer on steroids with one this on his mind: killing the thing that it hates most. For Seth, it's Vampires.

"I didn't remember. I couldn't remember. I forgot. How could I forget?" Maggie rambled madly before breaking down into a sobbing mess in Seth's arms. "I didn't mean to! I forgot!" She wailed loudly against his chest while he pulled her closer and buried his face in her neck.

"Tell me what happened, precious. I'll make it better." Seth murmured in a gruff voice trying to control his own emotions and rage.

"The scent. The scent. Her scent. Her scent." Maggie babbled out to him after a few moments and I jerked to attention when the front door slammed open. Slade strolled inside with a thunderous expression and Colt and Brock by his side.

"Who's scent? Precious, who's scent?" Seth begged Maggie desperately and she let out a whimper of pain before suddenly going silent. I frowned in concern for her mental state while she slowly turned to stare unseeing at Slade.

"Her scent." She whispered weakly to him and Slade's eyes narrowed at her while he took a cautious step forward. "I forgot. I didn't mean to. I forgot." Maggie whimpered to Slade brokenly and he frowned deeply at her in confusion. "Her scent. Vampire scent." Maggie elaborated weakly and panic clenched my heart tightly as my breath caught in my throat. "Tilly has a Vampire's scent. His scent." Maggie whimpered brokenly before reaching her trembling hand up to touch her scarred eyes as tears spilled down her cheeks. Seth thundered with a growl while Slade's head suddenly snapped up to the stairs.
