You zipped up your suitcase and sat on Caspar’s bed, staring straight ahead. Casper rushed in, running about grabbing camera equipment excitedly. He looked at you and pulled a massive cheesy grin, which you returned without hesitating. The day was moving fast and the world seemed to be spinning around you, understandable, you had known Caspar for little over two months and you were already going abroad with him. But you were so excited. It had been years since you took a proper break, and now the boy you had fallen in love with was taking you. Fallen in love with? No, never mind. That can’t be true. Once again, you had only now him little over two months.
Caspar pulled you from the bed and rolled your suitcase into the hall, where Alfie and Alice were waiting enthusiastically. You joined the three of them there and you stared Alice in the eye. She screamed at you and swamped you in a massive hug, her oversized jumper drowning you as you laughed with her. Caspar checked his watch and put on his glasses. “______, we need to go, the Taxi will be here any minute” he said, excitement in his voice. You said your final goodbyes to Alice and Alfie before leaving the flat.
You rushed downstairs, dragging your suitcase behind you, Caspar laughed at your giddiness, but it was only five AM, and you had had a LOT of coffee. When you were outside, the Taxi was waiting for you, and Caspar opened the door for you to step inside. The Taxi drove you to the airport, and all the way, Caspar was having a full length in depth conversation about cabin crew with the driver. You had to hold your breath so you didn’t laugh.
You got to the airport and checked in; now all you had to do was wait for your flight to be called. You took a seat in the waiting area while Caspar went to get you both a coffee, your kabillionth coffee this morning to be precise. The morning was turning out to be perfect; you even had a full English breakfast in a nice little café. Things couldn’t be going any better.
Caspar got a phone call. His face lit up when he saw the caller ID. You assumed it was Alfie and smiled as he spoke. But it didn’t sound like he would talk like that to Alfie. You put it to the back of your mind and you concentrated on your chewing gum – coffee had officially overrun your morning. “Okay, see you in a minute!” Caspar finished excitedly. See you in a minute? You were going on holiday, if he was talking to his mum, a minute may have been a slight exaggeration. You looked at him, your perplexed facial expression clearly making an impact on him.
“Oh, sorry, that was my friend Emmeline, she’s flying out to South Africa with us. Is that okay?” you looked at him in disbelief. “What?” you managed to get out. Caspar’s face dropped, he realised the mistake he had made. “I’m sorry, I should have told you sooner, but I only found out last week. I kept meaning to tell you, I just never got round to it. If it makes you feel any better, she’s a journalist, she’s flying out to visit Cape Town, she might even be visiting the ‘espresso show’, were just flying out together. Besides, I think you and Em will get on really well” he smirked. You loved that smirk, there was no point denying.
Before two long, Emmeline had joined you and as much as you hated to admit it, she was perfect. Natural beauty, no make-up whatsoever, short blonde hair and simple clothes with a stunning figure. He personality was amazing too, she was really nerdy in the sense that she kept you interested with facts you would never need to know, her journalism had kept her clever and interesting to talk to and she had an amazing sense of humour. It was clear that you two would be good friends from this point on. It seemed that Caspar was enjoying being right a little too much…
