You woke up after a very long lie in. It was now almost midday. You leaped out of bed, grabbing any old clothes and pulling them on hurriedly, racing downstairs to your dad and Liam making some sausage and bacon. “Uh, thanks for waking me up” you rolled your eyes at Liam who had now turned around and was laughing at your hair. You had obviously slept strangely or something. “Oh, no problem” he replied, mimicking your tone. Your dad laughed, flipping over some bacon, obviously burning himself on the spitting fat. “Ha! Serves you right for laughing” you teased, walking into the living room where your mum was on the phone.
You took a seat on the adjacent sofa, waiting for the call to end, and Liam took a seat at the piano, plugging his iPod headphones into it. “No, I have not signed up for this and this is the first time I have heard of this whole company, so take my name and contact details off your records” your mum said sternly before hanging up. She then turned her attention to you. “Nice lie in?” she asked cheekily. “Ugh does the teasing never end? So what, I was tired” you groaned as her and Liam laughed. “Oh Liam, unplug those headphones, I haven’t heard you play in ages” she said, turning her attention to the boy on the piano. He obliged, and soon had you all singing along to the Beatles. He played beautifully, always had. It was one if the reasons you adored him. He was great.
You packed your bag and sat in the living room, for maybe one too many episodes of Doctor Who before you were supposed to meet Alice. “Bye mum, it’s been lovely seeing you, and I promise that I’ll be back in a few months” you smiled as she embraced you. “You take care of yourself, ______, and take care of Ben too, he seemed fragile the other day” she added, a worried tone in her voice. You half smiled and half grimaced before she gave you another hug. “Bye dad” you grinned, giving him a mini salute. He kissed your forehead and you waited in the garden. “Bye folks!” Liam chimed as he followed you out. You got in his car and he put the keys in the ignition. As you drove out of the street, you waved at your parents. You arrived at Alice’s in no time, and she too hopped in the car.
You got to the train station and before too long you were on your train back to London. Yours and Alice’s flat were still uninhabited, so Liam and Josh would be staying in yours and you and Alice in hers. It was getting tiring sharing a smallish bed with Caspar since South Africa, and an air mattress before then. Besides, Alice had a perfectly comfortable sofa bed.
After an unbearably hot train journey, you were back in London. As you exited the station, Liam pinched you in the arm. “Ow!” you yelped. “What was that for?” you looked at him, raising your eyebrows. Liam pointed to the corner, by a tree and some bike rails. “That’s where we met” he recalled. You smiled and dragged your friends to the tube station, where you caught the crowded metal vehicle back to Caspar's.
Caspar had only heard of Liam before, so you were excited for him to meet him. You unlocked the flat and walked in, placing down your bags. You looked up, seeing a sight you weren’t expecting to see at all. Pillows littered the floor, clothes were strewn everywhere from the kitchen counters to hung from the ceiling on light fitments, bed sheets were dragged carelessly through bedroom doors and left half in and half out of the hall. You walked to the kitchen, which was in a much bigger state. There were Coco Pops everywhere and utensils anywhere but their draws. Caspar was hidden under the table wrapped in his duvet. He brought a finger to his lips to hush you. Josh sat up from his lying down and hidden under clothes position on the sofa. You joined Alice and Liam again, not sure what was going on. All of a sudden, Alfie burst from his bedroom wrapped in a towel like a cape and ran round the flat, tearing things apart to find the other two, not even noticing the three of you. “Caspar that’s the worst hiding place ever,” he laughed, “where’s Josh?” he asked, spinning around on his heel and surveying the apparently empty living room. Josh sat up quickly, scaring the life out of Alfie and Caspar, and indeed the three of you. “AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” he screamed, leaping up and rugby tackling Alfie to the ground.
Alice looked at you while Liam laughed at his old friend. Josh looked up at you, and immediately saw Liam. He dropped everything, (quite literally as more clothes carpeted the floor), and ran over to his friend. The two stood just looking at each other for a while, and then had one of those ‘man hug’ moments that no girl can ever understand. This was when Alfie and Caspar finally made their way over to greet you. The three of them had some explaining to do.
