Chapter 6

1990

Melanie

When we got back to Seattle I went back home and fell asleep as soon as I got into bed.
"Mel get up mum is taking us out for dinner," Kurt said while poking me.
"Just stop poking me, I will get up," I said annoyed at Kurt. Kurt went back downstairs and I got dressed.  I was just in my bra and underwear trying to pick an outfit. I looked over at the mirror and looked at my reflection. I noticed I looked skinner  then usual then again I didn't eat much at all while we were on tour. I was having trouble finding something to wear. Finally just threw jeans and a  t shirt on. Mum took Kurt and i out for pizza.
"So how was the tour?" she asked.
"I think it went ok. We are working on some new songs for a new album," Kurt said. Mum nodded. Once we went home I went straight to bed. I woke up at about 11:30 get dressed and had breakfast. Tonight was New Year's Eve which was exciting since Dave is having a big party. The phone started ringing so I picked it up.
"Hey," Dave said.
"Hi," I said.
"What time you coming around?" Dave asked me.
"Whenever you want me over," I said.
" wanna come over in 1 hour," he asked me.
"Ok sure see you soon," I said and hung up the phone. I went done to the shops to buy some  alcohol for tonight. While I was at the shops there was kool aid and pop tarts on sale so I bought some. I arrived at Dave's house at 1. I knocked on the door and waited.
"You look good today," a Dave said.
"Thanks," I said and went inside. Dave's mum is on holiday in Hawaii so he had the house to himself.
"I bought beer," I said handing it to Dave so he could put it in the fridge.
"Why do you have kool aid and pop tarts?" Dave asked.
"They were on sale so I decided to buy some," I said.
"And you picked the best flavours damm your good," Dave said and kissed my neck. I giggled and warped my arms around Dave's neck. We just lounged around while drinking kool aid and eating pop tarts. Finally some people started to show up. By 8:30 the house was packed. Dave put on a record and we all danced to JailBreak By ACDC. We danced around for ages but I started to feel dizzy so I went outside for some fresh air.

Dave
I saw Mel go outside so I followed her to see if she was ok.
"You ok?" I asked.
"I just feel a bit dizzy," she said. I sat her down in a chair and went inside to get her some water. I went back outside to give her the water.
"Thanks for the water," she said. Mel started to feel better so we decided to go for a walk. I have a surprise for Mel at the the paddock.
"Where are we going?" She asked.
"You will see when you get there," I said. We walked to the paddock and stopped once we got to the picnic rug. Earlier that day i set out a picnic rug in the paddock because you could see the fire works best in the paddock. We lay down on the picnic rug and counted down the last minutes of 1990. As soon as it hit 12:00 all these fire works went off.

Mel

The while sky lit up with fireworks.
"This is beautiful," I said looking at the sky with amazement. Dave pulled we closer to him and wrapped hid arm around me.
"I promise that I will always love you and take care of you," Dave said and he slipped a ring onto my ring finger
"I love you so much," I said with tears in my eyes. The ring was a promise ring and it was so beautiful. It was sliver with an infinity symbol on it and my initials engraved into it. It was beautiful.
"Happy new year babe," Dave said and kissed my cheek.
