Chapter 21

Mel

I sat on the chair on my balcony and watched the sunset after a long day working as a photographer . I had put fairy lights in the palm trees for decoration. They looked really nice and romantic. I heard a light knock on my room.
"Come in," I said. Duff walked in with a bottle of Vodka.
"I just wanted to say thanks for cleaning the house and redecorating the house for us," Duff said and handed me the bottle of Vodka.
"Also dinner is ready," Duff said.
"Thanks Duff, it really means a lot that you're letting me stay here," I said. Duff had to go to band practise and it was just Slash and I. Slash went to have a shower after dinner so I watched some tv then the phone started ringing.
"Hello," I said.
"Mel, its me," Dave said. Oh great.
"How did you find me?" I asked.
"Well I figured you would be staying with Duff and I asked around the music producers for his number," he said.
"Ok," I said.
"Please come home I miss you," he said.
"Who's on the phone?"  Slash asked coming out with just his boxers on.
"Dave," I said to him. Slash's expression changed.
"Who where you talking to?" Dave asked.
"Slash," I said.
"Look please come home," Dave begged.
"Look I am happy in L.A and I have a good job . Anyway I am in a relationship," I said.
"With who?!?!?!?" Dave asked really shocked.
"I am with Slash now," I said.

Dave

"I am with Slash now," Mel said. My heart shattered into a million pieces.
"Oh," I said. I quickly hung up the phone and got into bed. The next morning as I walked into the newsagents I saw a magazine and on the front cover was a photo of Slash and Mel at the drive in together. I flipped to the article. It read "Melanie Cobain has been spotted with her new boyfriend Slash in L.A several times over the past few months. Melanie was engaged to former Nirvana member Dave Grohl. But hasn't been seen with him for 3 months. Dave hasn't been spotted with a new girlfriend maybe he just can't let Melanie go. In a recent interview with Slash he said him and Mel are very happy and he's very lucky to have such a great girlfriend. Who knows maybe there will be a rock n roll wedding just around the corner".  I hated everything about this and Mel looks so different her hair has been dyed a sandy blonde colour and she has a nose piercing now. She looks nothing like how she use to. In all the photos her and Slash look so happy. I wish I still had her. I went home since I have band practise for the foo fighter.

Mel

Slash and I lay out on the grass on banana lounges soaking up the hot summer sun. I had my bright yellow bikini on and Slash had his board shorts on.
"Where's Duff?" Slash asked.
"Band practice" I said.
"Come sit with me," Slash said. I went and lay my head on his torso.
"Life is good," Slash said lightly playing with my hair.
"It sure is," I said smiling. Later that night Slash got a letter
